I presume the Eastern Catalytic was too big to put within the downpipe and it had to be after the downpipe to midpipe flanges. |

Splatz, Not poking at your for your statement. Why do you wrap all of your downpipes? In the context of a cat running hot enough, wrapping will likely get the exhaust gases hotter and cat work better. Perhaps you wrap to keep engine bay more cool. thanks

First post, have no clue if this is the right place to ask since my car is an e90 330d (m57m2, 2006).
So I'm about to order RM Motors Downpipe for my car and I was thinking of changing the downpipe myself. The tuner where I'll be going to is 500km away so my question is it possible to drive there without any problems if I've changed the downpipe but haven't got the tune and dpf related stuff coded out? Will it go into limp mode? |

Bought a ceramic blanket for my doc and dp. Not sure how it's going to turn out but it's breathable so moisture shouldn't collect. It might look odd because it's pure white and it's just literally a blanket lol.

I've been researching and cannot find a clear answer, can I leave the large and small exhaust shield out if I remove the DEF tanks? It won't get too hot below the trunk if the shields are removed? Exhaust will be aftermarket with mufflers
Thx |

It shouldn't get too hot. A few members here have been running without the shield and all has been fine. I decided to keep mine on though just in case.

Heat shields were there to protect the plastic urea tanks. The steel chassis will be fine. I've been under mine after driving many times. Chassis is cool. I don't have mufflers and my exhaust is custom though. i will edit in link to my thread to show you distance of pipes to structure.

Thanks for replies!! One more question. My downpipe from ATN doesn’t have any bracket. Just bolts to turbo and where midpipe connects. Is this ok? I’ll ask them too

Should be fine as well. My downpipe didnt have a bracket either and is currently just bolted onto the turbo and rest of the exhaust. No issues I've noticed so far.

Stage 2 , DPF off (RM motors downpipe) , EGR off , swirl flaps delete.
getting 41aa / 428b codes and limp mode at high speeds (~200km/h) when i push it hard. No boost until i restart engine. Runs smooth and good when drive normaly. Changed: MAF Glowplugs + relay Vac lines 2x pressure converters checked all vacuum on idle and while driving with analog gauge and its OK. All acuators are moving and is holdning vacuum. 3 tunes tested I have a small exhaust leak after the DP installation. I will install a new map sensor next week but, Has anyone fixed this problem? If the MAP sensor dont solve the problem I maybe think the injectors or turbo? I think its going into limp mode because of its overboosting more than 0.4 from asking boost pressure. I am preparing for the deletes as my DDE was sent off to be tuned. I don't feel like paying hundreds of $ for a downpipe. My plan is to just gut the DPF. I'd like to know how to gut it while leaving the DOC in place to help with the smell. Also I'll try and wrap due to reading some comments how it helps with the smell. Eventually when I get a new custom exhaust I'll probably install some high flow DOCs further down stream. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm gonna prep to completely remove exhaust and I'm also gonna remove the UREA tanks while exhaust is out of way.

Old post, but yes it will need to have the DPF program removed from the tune. Failure to do this can result in exhaust fires, and fault codes related to the emissions system.
I have my 335d stage 3 with no issues. |

DPF Delete - Do I need remapping? Why?
Hey guys, not sure if I'm supposed to ask a question on this thread but:
I have an e90 n47, stage 1, just did the downpipe. No faults so far. Can I run the car like this? (drive to a coder), also, why do I need to do the DPF remap? What's the purpose? |
