Question about AccessTUNER Pro; will this be beneficial to people running just the standard bolt-ons (intake, FMIC, DP, exhaust)? Or is it specifically for individuals running a more custom setup (ie. RB turbos, meth)?

The OTS maps have been designed to run well across several hardware set ups, likely leaving some power on the table. With tuning done to specific hardware on a given car, it should improve performance as well as give the individual ability to modify preferences.

For example, I plan to run two maps. One pump only map thats on the vary edge of peak performance (pushing safe levels for reasonable intake temps and fuel quality, 93 octane) as it relates to boost and timing. Then I will spray meth on top of this to ensure cooler cylinder temps and detonation protection. This will be my day to day map.

Then I will run a map meth map pushing the advantages of meth for spirited driving days.

This way, I know that my daily map will be 100% safe when meth is spraying. And if it does fail and my failsafe doesnt respond quick enough, I hopefully will still be in a safe enough zone to allow the ecu's general safety measures to protect the engine.

And for days on the meth map, I can at least do a general inspection and will more closely monitor its performance.

going to raise the question again based on my flip of these two versions twice now.
Stage 1 Sport v301 with Standard/Stock Thottle as compared to v203 91 Octane, standard/stock throttle (not V1, not V2, not ACN).

V203 kicks the ass of v301 Sport and in my opinion v301 Aggressive.

I love v203 with exception of quirky shift points and some lurching.
If anyone thinks 301 Sport or Aggressive is better, would love to hear opinions.

I've flipped twice, measured boost and also feel the difference. Can't even break tires loose in DS mode on v301 Sport or Aggressive from a standstill, with DCT totally turned off.
v203, non issue breaking tires loose.

Interesting...Any Dynos on the Cobb website to support this?

Well, Cobb already provides OTS maps for a variety of configurations (S1, S2, S2+ and soon S1+). It appears they will also be releasing OTS maps for larger turbos as well as meth. So, I wonder what that leaves on the table for ATP/ATR.

I suppose it is to extract as much power as possible for more specific needs such as autocross, 1/4 mi etc?

Even cars that have almost identical mods will respond slightly different, and a custom tune would then allow each vehicle to run the best(it's not all about max power)

+1

Every car is unique. With the hundreds of variables between each car, a tune specific to each car is almost always better than any OTS. And the crap shoot is, even if you get it tuned on a given day, two weeks later is might not be the best tune for your car anymore due to a lot of the variables being far from constant even on a given car. OTS vs. custom tuning all comes down to cost and time benefit.

Have a Cobb on order, has not arrived yet. I searched here and can't find out the following: where do I find my ECU ID#, to download latest appropriate maps? Thanks.

A custom tune will be (in the hands of the right person) smoother, more powerful, and all around better drivability. This was my experience with Cobra Mustang and Daytona Shelby (lol going back) OTS tunes vs a custom tune. But again only in the hands of an experienced tuner who knows our platform inside and out. Shortly after ATR is released we will begin to see who the "real" pro tuners are.

I'd love to see what Shiv/Terry could do with ATR.........

I could see both of them making some money doing street tunes on ATR for people. Probably some decent money in it too.

Is access tuner going to be available only for approved tuning shops by Cobb or to the general public for download where each and every individual owner of the AP will be able to tune to his standards? I predict a lot of explosions if the latter is true.

ATP and ATR should be basically the same software if I'm not mistaken. A tuner would probably need to be approved by Cobb as an authorized tuner. Think that's accurate, someone correct me if I'm wrong

There will likely be disclaimers up the wazoo ain't cobb fault if someone doesn't know what they're doing.

Boost = 35 psi. No changes to timing. Nobody understands timing. Done.

That's how you tune ATR like a boss

I don't even think the map sensor can go that high. I believe it's limited to around 22 psi.

question for cobb...

instead of high jacking the oil and gas gauge would it be possible to use the dash display that reads out your mpg, average speed, ect to display a few logging parameters like boost, a/f, iat, timing... or if it would be easier to use the i drive screen that would be cool too. just a thought
