Unfortunately, the sad reality is, workshops always take longer than they say they do.
Even simple things take forever. Take my compressor housing of my GTR for example: Took it off to get it modified, which i was told would be a 2 - 3 week turn around. So i figured why not. I should be getting it back tomorrow (hopefully for the long weekend install ![]() Am not happy with the length of time. But what can you do? |

I'm sure the result will be worth it in the end and the time it took you'll forget pretty quickly too

6 weeks in and not much has been done. Money was paid upfront for the car to be worked on continually not just when they had time or as a fill in when work is slow. |

I had also paid for mine in full prior to the work being done. But still took 3 times the quoted time frame. |

If they had a plan, parts ordered I think that'd be fine but it appears all they've done is pulled the old turbos off in 6 weeks.... when some of the stuff needed has 3-4 weeks lead time, hasn't been even thought about and the car is meant to be finished in 1-2 weeks that's kind of concerning. 8 weeks was what was promised and agreed to, they really should be having a decent crack at trying to meet that timeframe. |

Not so concerned about the delay past 8 weeks, that seems normal. What concerns me is that each week there has been "No work done". Slow progress is one thing. No progress week after week is another. Problem is if it's just sitting there it could be months before I get it back. Meanwhile my hire car gets returned next week and I'll be relying on taxis to get around!!! Boo hoo lol

Custom fabrication means custom time lines. If the fabricator dedicated time for 8 weeks its possible to complete a bottom mount single turbo, assuming you have all the parts and can chase the material for all the custom bits required.
Every platform I have modified has taken magnitudes of time over what is calculated or anticipated. When you try to force the equation, the standard reply is, "take your car elsewhere if you don't like it". There is always an excuse or problem to solve. And the money you have spent is then wasted all over again. You need more than one car to begin custom projects like this. Everyone thinks a single turbo for RHD is easy and cheap until they pull the gubbins apart and take stock of the issues involved. The result will be worthwhile, but it’s a journey that needs endless patients and contingencies planned. Stick with it or demand your money back and talk to JD. We have only inlets to complete the over engineered single on my car...when the fabricator deems the force is with him. ![]()

So I saw you offered duck cash for his big single, what's your plan now? Are you pulling the car out and getting your money back?

I'm not saying it's an easy job to do, but any shop that quoted a time and haven't started the important and time consuming part after 8 weeks, and hasn't communicated clearly to socks where they're at with it isn't worth supporting, at all. |

ST build continued
Week 8 No progress since last update, so decided to pull the car out of the shop, pay up for the work done so far and get SPCGRY back home. Big call out to DrJ, who took the day off to head out to the workshop and oversee the whole collection process, including packing the car full of parts that needed to be returned ![]() ![]() ![]() It has been a frustrating and expensive lesson, but time to move on and take control of this project. ![]() Ducks (world record) ST kit will be heading south to Yoda motorsports for the biggest DIY, Vince and I have taken on yet... Sounds like fun ![]() Pics of SPCGRY being packed up for transport home to Melb |

Glad you got her back. F that shop. I bet they were not even apologetic. I don't think I ever saw Duck's manifold should be interesting.
