ST build - preparing the engine bay

While we are waiting for parts to arrive, we are using the time to do what we can to prepare the car for the ST. The biggest problem (other then getting it to fit) is managing the heat and to stop things close to the turbo and pipes from melting So there are a few things that need to be moved from the drivers side to the passenger side. Not only does this protect them from the heat, but also has the advantage of creating room on the drivers side of the engine bay.

So the vac canisters, water expansion tank, water filler hose and electrical wiring all needs to be removed and relocated

Vac canisters were removed already so did not need to worry about these. If you are doing this, they are easy to remove. Unplug the vac lines and remove the three bolts connecting them to the bracket. Remove canister and bracket

The water expansion tank was already removed as well (sweet). You can reuse it if you are trying to save money, but it is much easier to buy a 335d tank (PN 7810592) which is made to fit on the passenger side. I purchased one on ebay from the UK for $150 delivered (thanks for the link Vince ). Bolt the tank onto the holes on the passenger side of the car

Also need to run the water expansion tank sensor plug to the passenger side. I did this by unraveling the wires, splicing on some new wire (to lengthen) and running the wire along the wiring loom above the engine and over to the water tank (blue dotted line in pic)

I also rerouted all the RGB AE wiring to the passenger side, pita tbh, but its looking much neater now.

Last was the water filler hose to the water tank for the windscreen and headlight washer. I fed the hose down through the drain in the corner of the engine bay and into the wheel well. Water still drains fine and the filler hose is still accessible

All in all took about a day but that's one job out of the way 274 to go lol

Pic 1 - Bits that need to be relocated
Pic 2 - New location for the water expansion tank
Pic 3 - Routing sensor plug to passenger side
Pic 4 - Moving the water filler hose (before)
Pic 5 - Water filler hose fed though drain hole and curled up in wheel well
Pic 6 - Water filled hose cap in its new location
Pic 7 - Moving the water filler hose (after)
Pic 8 - RGB wiring relocated to passenger side
Pics 9 & 10 - View of drivers side engine bay. Lots more room now

Yeah, but if you buy a second motor and stick it on an engine stand, it can be done bit by bit and not all at once.

Just google it
Syvecs has been stalled on providing plug n play ecu.

And no one is currently able to tune them that has them.
Not to a advanced level anyway.

Holy shit, you guys paying $1650 to remove stock turbos I'll do em all day long lol.

And if you need to buy precisions I'm happy to sell at those sort of prices haha.

Old mate really jammed ya which kinda sucks sock!

Also; anything you find that's small and is missing when you are installing shit, holla, I doubt I'll be selling too much other shit out of this shitbox anytime soon so I'll send down whatever you need to finish it up!

I machined up plugs to block off the auto cooler as well for the radiator shit so I didn't have to change to a manual one.
