3 is 2009-2013, same as what's in your M3
4 is 2012-2018, added the touchpad
5/6 is 2017-2020, added carplay and sometimes touch screen
7 is 2020+, adds "gestures" and can be upgraded to add android auto.
(overlap is because different models changed over at different times, usually with a generation change... e to f is 3-4, f-g is 6-7)

I went with 6/touchscreen because I wanted google maps in the dash screen.

Hey everyone, Found this one on Autotrader the other day but looks like they took it off. I spoke with one of the salesman this morning and looks it is still available. not the best optioned car and doesn't have manual but still looks to be a good buy for anyone looking (@4doors).

Never realized production numbers were that low. Pretty much definitely solidifies me not selling mine. Toyed with the idea at the end of 2019, but just bought some maintenance items and planning on a suspension overhaul for 2020.

Your requirements are pretty steep given what your desired price range is. Tough to find anything that isn't a beater with 100k+ for under 5 figures.

Looks great! Love this combination regardless of AT. Needs a little TLC to get it where I would want it, but nice example.

Great info, thanks for sharing. I never kept up on the different generations. I wouldn't mind upgrading to 5/6 to add Carplay, but no interest in touchscreen... Fingerprints would send my OCD off the charts!

Hah, I can see how you would think that. However, I'm not really looking for an M Sport. Sure, I'd love to have one, but I see all are $12k+ and I am shooting for sub $10k. I'm not looking for a show stopper either, don't mind a car that needs a little TLC. As for mileage, also not too concerned with 100K+, however would like to at least be below 125K. So, that being said I don't think my aspirations are THAT high.. I'm also running with the South Florida mindset where E90s are all ancient artifacts that nobody wants, so they're cheaper down my way... For instance, the Bluewater car I was watching was an '11, beige interior, pretty much all options, 113k miles, spectacular service history (at my local dealer), and listed for $8400... So, I know those cars can be found, just need to keep searching.

Now that doesn't mean I wouldn't creep up to $11-12k for a more desirable car, I just don't necessarily need that. Besides, this is going to be my runaround car, don't want something that I have the desire to go crazy with and start modding. The occasional upgrade here and there, sure, but the majority of my car hobby monies are still reserved for my M3.

Yes, I've been speaking to the owner of this one. He states all highway mileage and he has good service history from PO through his ownership (about 4 years). It looks pretty good, however, mileage is a little higher.

More interestingly though, the car has Beige Sensatec... I thought for sure all M-Sport cars would've been standard with leather... This is according to M decoder, but still, a strange option if true.

That being said, does anyone know how well the Sensatec holds up? I'd guess better than leather but not sure.

I’ve had sensatec in an e90 and a F30...Dakota leather is far superior. Especially if you have heated seats, the synthetic material cracks over time as it is not as supple as leather. When I say cracks, I am not taking about superficial cosmetic issues but actual tears in material. I have had merino leather as well in F80 and it’s garbage...cracks quickly and is much thinner than my current e90 M3 leather. For the record - I condition my leather monthly and am a smaller guy at 175lbs who lifts myself up when getting in and out of my cars rather than crushing bolsters.

It’s amazing to see some of these e91 Dakota (alpine/saddle example above) that almost look new 10 years later. End of day, I wish they made speed cloth/carbonstructure seats in other 3 series besides M3, as those seem to wear the best. I personally would not buy sensatec again after my previous experiences.

Great info about the Sensatec/Leather... I had no idea it was so weak.. I'd rather have leather as well, so still looking..

As for the car local to you, I might be interested, so thank you for the offer. However, as someone said, the price is high for the miles. He does claim to have service history though, so the car might be in perfect condition. I'm still trying to stay under $10k though, so will keep looking at this point...

Do you have any more breakdown on this? Or perhaps production numbers by color? My wife really prefers the Bluewater, curious just how hard I have to search for one... I am kind of gaining fondness of the Tasman Green...

Received a ZIP file from the owner this evening, many pictures of the interior, a few undercarriage and underhood... I will say this, the car is FILTHY inside and out...

A solid detail can go a long way! I agree the price is very optimistic given the miles an automatic transmission.
