The car likes the cool mornings, but the tires don't...

Sweater weather in the early morning then warms to the mid 20Cs. Can't really complain.

Next week it's supposed to be wet.

75 Sunny right now. Friday night Kay should be moving in, bringing 1-2" rain. Hopefully she shows up AFTER my opening soccer game of the Fall season Friday night.

High temps are going to drop about 20 when Kay arrives. I might be able to sleep this weekend.

My forecast shows some rain today, tomorrow and Saturday. Then in the 80s all next week. Thank God this heat wave is finally passing.

Had a huge rain dump last Sunday night. Must've dropped a couple inches in about an hour. Had to get out the pump to pump the water out of my patio before it came into the family room. What a waste of water. Had some buckets out to catch rain water for the potted plants under the patio.

Nice day today. 73F right now with a forecasted high of 84. Hope it stays like this till fall, but I'm pretty sure we have a few more hot days ahead.

How was the rain in Oxnard, Wede?

What is this "rain"?

I was 2 exits from my soccer game on Friday, and my windshield got spots. It was exciting to think it might rain!! We played thru the tad of water falling, and it was tough on this old guy sliding across the end line trying to save a corner. I lay there with grass all over my face, and players gathered around to see if I was OK. Yeah, just disappointed in my old hips that couldn't wrap around that ball. But it was still fun!

Saturday was miserable sticky, and we did a pop-up garage sale while cleaning out my dad's garage, so my bro can move in. A few times I considered moving some items back into the garage, but never did. Not enough water fell to even get the sidewalk wet.

The last couple nights have been equally miserable. Too hot to sleep, and the wife has every imaginable fan on. Generally about 80 outside, +4-5 degrees inside. Sleeping in shorts on top of covers, but trying to hide from the constant touching of the fans.

69° and clear. It's nice, but it's been hot since May so if you're not in the sun it feels chilly.

Right now raining cats and dogs and cooler so I'm glad I finished hacking away the overgrown jungle earlier in the long garden with a big hedge trimmer ready to scoop up the debris into a builders sand sack when it stops raining.

"Only" 90 today. I'm glad we skipped the OSU football game on Saturday. It was supposed to be in the upper 80s and sunny slowly cooling down into the evening.

Evening came, wind picked up, started raining and dropped into the 60s. I would have been miserable enough in shorts/shirt that we would have left early.

I was going to surprise my wife for her birthday in May, and called a couple companies to come out. I already have a furnace/ducting/controller in place. The estimates were around $28K I had budgeted $5-7k in my head.

We did find during the garage sale that a childhood neighbor who is occupying his family home now is currently enrolled in A/C and working for a company. His first solo project will be his own house, then probably my brothers' I'm thinking to get in line.

It never rains in Kansas City anymore. I think I can count the days we've had rain since late June on two hands. It's nuts. I'm shocked that we aren't under some sort of drought warning. All yards are burned up and trees are shedding leaves. It's constantly mid 80s to mid 90s, humid, and very sunny.

That's about what I expect to spend this spring for a new condenser and blower.

I know many things are generally more expensive in the built-up coastal regions of California, but why is A/C costing $28K, especially if you've already got an air-handler, ductwork, and a control unit installed? Do you have 8,000 square feet and they're installing four compressors?

You and I are 550 miles apart, at the same latitude, and our cities' average annual precipitation is almost the same. What I've seen and experienced here in the Cincinnati region over the past six years is that, as you indicate, rainfall is highly variable in terms of when (and if) it's occurring. Where it's falling here is quite variable, too, as we can go quite a while with more rain falling from thunderstorm systems than from systems that soak the entire region.

To your point, it's hot enough here in the summer that if the wet stuff stops falling for very long the trees and especially the landscaping begin to suffer visibly. This has been a good year in that regard. We had one dry spell that lasted about three weeks; otherwise, rain has fallen with enough regularity that everything looks very good.

We've had dry-ish years and very wet years during the last six years. The upside of the wetter years, flooding in low-lying sub-regions aside, is that the fall colors have been much more dramatic than they were in the one very dry year we had. That year fall was just...brown.

The NWS reports we (airport CVG) have had 37.25" of rain so far this year, while our present historical average for the entire year is 35.0". It shows KC (MCI) has so far had 33.85" compared to an average for the year of 34.2". I assume these values include the water content of snow, but I don't think either of us see enough of the white stuff for it to make much difference.

Seeing it here in OKC as well. In the almost 6 years I've been here. Much less rain and often much less of it when it happens.

Out of curiosity I looked up the precipitation last September at YKF. It was reported at 177.8mm (7 inches) for the month. It was the wettest month by far in this last year. Second was October at 89mm.

September 2022 thus far is up to .... 5mm and most of it was this morning and last night.
