We're big fans of Orin Swift's wines. Papillon, a blend, is probably my favorite red of his wines, and Mannequin, a very oakey Chard is easily my favorite white he's released.

Same here. My wife and I like Papillon a lot. I like Mannequin, but she isn't a fan of Chardonnays.

Just back from a long weekend in Napa. We enjoyed Grgich, Eleven Eleven, Jarvis, and Rombauer the most. Also visited the JCB tasting room in Yountville, where we sampled some excellent wines. Now awaiting a self-curated case from Grgich, and the equivalent of a case from some of the others.

That’s a very nice wine. You can certainly drink it now, but if you have a wine cellar / fridge or a place to store it where it doesn’t get hot (maybe the racks behind the bottle in the pics are in your house?), it will be even better a few years down the road. Of course, you can always try it now and get more to store for later if you like it. Either way, I suggest enjoying it with your favorite cut of steak. (And happy birthday!)

Thanks for the suggestion. I found and bought 3 of these bottles at my local store over the weekend. Looking forward to trying them.

I guess my wife missed my update that I picked up a few of these. She came home with a bottle, said she saw it and remembered I told her it was a recommendation. Now if only she would be onboard with another car...

What did you think of it? I'm down to two bottles, so it's time to go searching. I highly recommend another car if that counts for anything.

Most Portuguese reds and whites. Not as well known as Italian and French and Californian wines but they are on spots and amazing. Give them a try!

We brought a bottle with us this past weekend but ended up ordering all seafood. So we ended up enjoying it between courses and finished it at home later that evening. What a great wine; it seemed to get better as we enjoyed it. I really liked that it initially felt like a big cab but had that zinfandel "twang" and finish.

The other car has been quite the conversation. I really want a Carrera 4, maybe 2007 or so, but my wife doesn't understand the need for 2 cars. But I work it when I can, and hopefully we'll come to an agreement. My buddy just picked up an e46 M3 as a 2nd car, and my wife is very close with his wife, who keeps telling mine to "just let him get the car"

Apothic Red from sunny California.Great with a thick juicy rib eye steak and Pinot Grigio complements the fish choice.
