If I were Toto Wolff, I wouldn't blame Russell for the crash. OK the repairs cost money, but Russell did all he could - he showed determination, bravery, fighting spirit, he engaged. His accident is no result of recklessness. It's a result of flirting with the limits - givin' it all you got.

Maturity has surely improved and they wouldn't be competing for a top tier team seat. It would probably depend on SAI's threat level a few races into the season. Frost level would definitely increase if too close.

Alonso dropped to eighth after penalty in Melbourne
Fernando Alonso has been given a 20-second time penalty after the Australian Grand Prix for driving in a “potentially dangerous” manner that caused George Russell to crash.

Russell crashed at Turn 6 on the final lap of the race, closing in rapidly on Alonso towards the apex and then sliding wide into the gravel and hitting the barrier, sustaining heavy damage. The pair were then summoned to the stewards where it emerged Alonso had lifted off more than 100 meters earlier than he had at any stage the race and created a significant difference in closing speeds.
“Alonso explained to the stewards that he intended to approach Turn 6 differently, lifting earlier, and with less speed into the corner, to get a better exit,” the stewards’ decision read. “Russell explained to the stewards that from his perspective, Alonso’s maneuver was erratic, took him by surprise and caused him to close distance unusually fast, and with the resulting lower downforce at the apex of the corner, he lost control and crashed at the exit of the corner. There was no contact between the cars.

Article 33.4 of the FIA’s F1 Sporting Regulations states: “At no time may a car be driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person.”

My friend there's no problem, it was a rear brake calliper with a seized piston that caused a fire on the 1 car when the b/fluid ignited probably.
It happened with both the rear callipers on my P car last year, the rear wheels would hardly move and a rebuild kit including new pistons and seals was purchased for £60 and when the brake fluid was flushed the wheels moved freely.
I would not like to know how much it costs on the RB20

That was not a super fun race to watch knowing Max was out due to a mechanical issue. Then again, this is the only way the field can hope to beat Max because if that didn't happen Sai doesnt stand a chance.
Sai is a solid driver, but IMO, him in a RB only yields you a Per, maybe slightly better but not materially so.
I think Max is going to be pissed about this race and come to Japan ready to go with that new engine.

If the Brembo brakes don't fail in Japan, Verstappen will be eager to lap most of the field.
