Why not? I have used nitto drag radials on my daily drivers and get 10-15k out of them.

As DLSJ5 mentioned, trap speed is a true indicator of power being made. ET is more of an indicator of traction. Sounds like everyone was trapping slow to start with, so 114-115 may be a more likely range at a different track.

DLSJ5, are you still doing the 3500K clutch drop on DRs when you ran the 13.3@103? Sounds like this track isnt the best for putting up your best numbers.
Yep good point... DOT approved means legal for street and daily driven

114-115 traps is a low 12 sec pass.... very fast traps.

Excellent comments.

Yes I still do the 3500K type launch with DR's, the one's I've been using lately (275/35/18) are a bit older and do not work as good as the (265/40/18) that I had. You're right the new Fontana is approx .3 slower in the ET and about 3 MPH slower in the traps then the old Fontana track, and it's approx 1200' above sea level, this seem to be true with most of the cars I've ran with before at both tracks. So it's def not the best track to put great times or traps.

Question....is Shiv running on the stock runflats?

There are some very good tires out that aren't DR's with TONS of grip...such as Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's. I'm going to swap out my runflats with some of these fairly soon and I'll report back on traction. As an example...I had a modded 1.8T Jetta that put down nearly 300 LB FT TQ and was worthless in 1st and 2nd gears with the stock Michelin Pilots (225 45 17's). I swapped them out with the Goodyears, and holy crap 1st gear was entirely usable. Even launching from a stop in boost would allow for easy hookup.

I dont think anything under 12.5 is possible just a flash and exhaust.

You guys can say us "newbies" dont understand this and that, but whats funny is you guys are puttin so much trust into a Gtech. I find that very "newbie-ish".

Until people start taking there cars to the track and gettin REAL times, we'll never know.

Good job on hittin up the track Shiv.

I like how my trap speed perdictions were right.

I still think anything under 12.5 is a streach.

cant wait to see what times are turned in at a 'fast' track. esp once shiv learns how to better launch it or switches tires.

awesome stuff.

Even Stage 0/91 should be good for high 12s with a good launch. I am sure Shiv was fighting with some major wheelspin/throttle modulating... the ET through the 1/8th mile was slower than stock.

Where's the Drag Racing & Track forum? Should get up some ET times for members who take their cars out.

so other than drag radials what are some good street tires that will be able to handle the power?

but looks like on drag time there was a stock 335i coupe running at a magazine time at 13.3 which is very cool... he must have hes launch on spot and a good break in.

0.2 from almost 100hp extra better than stock... new wheels are on the way is my guess for shiv.

The only problem with the run on paper was the launch, it was aweful, nothing against Shiv the guy is obviously a genious with cars but launching this car is difficult. I'm not sure I could do much better on street tires, the car is a TQ monster, but again don't look at the final ET, look at the 1/8th mile and final trap speeds, that will tell you what it will do with a sub 2 second 60'. It will do mid 12's based on the trap speed, we've already gone over why and how. 13 flat is doable with a 104 MPH trap and sub 2 second 60', so a stock car is capable of that with traction, he's well beyond that in his traps.
