NEED HELP QUICK!
I can't get the vent part out all the way. I got the inner part undone but I cant get the outer part(closer to door) to come out. I dont want to pull too hard because I'm afraid of braking the clip. |

So you DON'T have to buy the Euro Light Switch to enable the rear fog lights if you follow the DIY??
The Euro Light Switch is than only for cosmetic?? |

My youngest son & I did this DIY before lunch today. Total time was fourteen minutes. We used Legos for our missing piece & it works great! According to Lego's website, this is what we used: 3 - Brick 1X1 & 1 - Plate 1X3. There you have it!

because some cars do NOT have the piece needed. some cars, like mine, already have the piece and all we have to do is cut the tabs. really not that hard to understand...lol

OK, that must have been the easiest MOD I have ever done to a car. Did it on my N55 2011 335i Coupe M-Tech. It does come with the extra white button, so no worries there. I calculated it took me about 5min, and that is because I forgot to bring a razor blade to my car and I had to go get it, LOL!! WOOT for the MOD!!

Did this on my '07, just did it on the '11 iS as well. As many have said, the white piece was already present.
I vaguely recall that the front fogs had to be active for the rear fogs to turn on - or that the front fogs would be turned on automatically with the rear fogs - so I wasn't sure if this mod would work with the iS coupe which has no front fogs at all. No problem though, it works fine.

Thanks for this write up. I used a nickel, a valve stem cap, and cut up some other random wire plastic things til it fit and felt right. Some SMALL amount of krazy glue and works perfect.
FREE FTW!

woot!
Thanks OP! I got my 328 a couple of weeks ago. After reading the newer models had the white part, I decided to try it today during lunch. BINGO it's there. It took me longer to pull the vent and the actual button out.
I used nail clippers to cut the tabs off, worked like a charm. Filed down a little area with the nail clipper. Looks factory. installed and tested. Best free mod ever! lol |

What a great and easy mod! The LCIs have the white piece already so I just had to cut the tabs. The most difficult part was removing the vent, which took like 5min. Thanks.

After the four small tabs are broken to make the button pushable.
Insert orange piece Place yellow piece on top and carefully snap close the whole assembly, no glue needed, everything will stay in place as long as the yellow piece touches the nipples when the box is closed Last edited by theanhdy; 11-08-2010 at 01:21 AM.. |

Thanks Andy! I started this DIY last night and was trying to find household items that might do the trick, gave up hope after an hour of trying to ghetto rig the thing. Unfortunately I sold the thousands of Legos I had as a kid at a garage sale years ago, however, today I stopped by the Lego Store at the mall and after showing the associate there your picture, he just gave me the pieces I needed for free. That flat piece is spot on, got my switch working as soon as I got home. Just wanted to thank you for posting that picture! Legos FTMFW
also, if anyone was wondering, if you have the headlight switch removed, your headlights go to a permanent ON position, which came in handy when I drove to my girlfriend's last night mid-DIY |

problem with my switch
I just realized that my switch is missing the white piece on the circuit board for the rear fog lights. I wonder if this was missing to disable the feature of rear fog lights in Canada. Anyone know what I should do to replace this missing white thing? Thanks in advance. (please see the circled area on the attached picture)
