Thanks for quick reply... I had to ask about it, because I am before instalation and I have still some choice and in addition, on the internet there is a lot of many different tutorials how to install inpa and some people claim that the best OS for inpa it's Windows XP Professional.
One more thing, to avoid potential problems with connection and reading all modules, do I need update SP-DATEN to any specific one ?? a few minutes ago I finished downloading sp-daten v57 but I know that there is newer version v59. Is the v57 enough or it will be better to obtain v59 ? I've found v59 but it's complete sp daten without selection on models 15 gb to download, I have a slow internet connection and downloading 15 gb data it takes me forever...

Continuation of the previous post...

I'm later on doing a retrofit of a CIC (Prod. May 2013) with DAB and BT streaming and a Combox Media (March 2015). So the question is if the 50.2 daten are adequate enough?

PS. (Edit.) For me, the German language barrier is not a big issue since att studied it at school so what would the procedure be if I wanted the latest, latest of everything?

I used this guide to set up everything. This guide provides us with 3 profiles for ncsexpert, one of which is expertenmodus. I see exportmode profile mentioned a lot but I can't seem to locate a copy of that profile. Are expertenmodus and expertmode the same?

I will be doing an aplina b3 flash and I'm sure my paddles won't work afterwards because of my build date. The fix for the paddles requires expertmode profile. I just want to make sure I have everything ready before flashing. Thanks in advance.

It depends upon the integration level of your vehicle. The integration level will determine the minimum SP daten needed to code your car. If none of the modules in your vehicle have been updated since November of 2015, v57 will work just fine.

See questions 1., 2., and 3. from my BMW Standard Tools 2.12 FAQ:

Yes, 50.2 (July 2013) should be sufficient. Same as answer as above, refer to my FAQ.

BMW Standard Tools 2.12 is the latest of everything. The F-Series INPA scripts are the latest.

I can't tell you whether the profiles are the same or not; a profile can be named anything, it's the profile settings that matter. The Expertenmodus profile will work fine. The Alpina TCU flash is one of the tested use cases:

INPA 5.0.6:
  • MSD80 / MSD81 fuel injector volume calibration
  • Register new battery and reset histogram
  • Read and clear MSD80 / MSD81 history memory
  • Display plant, dealer, and backup integration levels
  • Display UIF data for all control modules (module name and address, ZB number, VIN number, date of last flash)
  • Display gearbox control unit (TCU) analog values (engine/gearbox temperature, turbine speed, accelerator pedal angle, etc.)
NCS-Expert 4.0.1:
  • Battery retrofit (flooded to AGM); updated VO and default coded CAS
  • Enable digital speedometer
  • Enable fog lights to remain on when high beams are flashed
  • Disable door chime when ignition is off and key fob is inserted
  • E92 corner bulb delete
WinKFP 5.3.1:
  • Flash reprogramming of ZF 6HP21 TCU
Rheingold ISTA 3.40.30/3.41.10:
  • Leverages BMW Standard Tools 2.12 EDIABAS interface for vehicle diagnosis, no ISIS workshop server required (outside the scope of this DIY)
FWIW, here are my thoughts on the proper ZB number to use:

Thumbs up Biggest Thanks

Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU. Your guide is probably the most comprehensive and instructive out there (IMHO). Couples of bumps along the way but was sorted out in the end. This enabled me to reset my brake light short circuit counter.

Did you even bother to read the first post?

No, this software is not easy to install. I explain this in the first post:

This DIY is not intended to be the "easy button." If you want a mixture of BMW software, third-party software and data files of unknown origins pre-configured for you because your in a rush to try your new cable, look elsewhere. There are even forum members who can assist you remotely for a "donation."
Furthermore, you're clearly not following the installation steps as outlined in this DIY. That being said, I cannot begin to help you.

This is addressed in the Windows 10 DIY:

If you are using the Firefox browser, you may receive a warning similar to the one below. Don't panic.

Per Norton Safe Web (https://safeweb.norton.com/), six files on the site were found to be infected. INPA 5.0.2 is not amongst them:
Ignore the warning, or use a different browser that will allow you to ignore the warning.

INPA is reporting that the D_SIM.GRP file cannot be found. That file should be located in the C:\EDIABAS\ECU folder.

Perhaps you skipped this step?

One more question...

I did everything what your DIY said (see attachment ) is there anything else i need to do?

BTW. when you see it ...and if i do something wrong dont laugh ....i try everything but dont have a clue what to do now
That attachment is not my DIY...it's merely instructions (written by someone else) which describe how to install INPA 5.0.2 and friends. In the context of this DIY, INPA 5.0.2 is temporarily installed in order to capture the INPA scripts and configuration files. Once the needed files are copied to removable media, the operating system is erased, reinstalled and BMW Standard Tools 2.12 is installed.

The video clearly shows that you haven't followed the DIY...the INPA and NCS-Expert shortcuts on your desktop were not created by the BMW Standard Tools 2.12 installer. Furthermore, the C:\EDIABAS\ECU folder is not supposed to contain the SP daten folders (i.e. cfgdat, data, daten, ecu, format, et. al.)...

As previously stated, you're clearly not following the installation steps as outlined in this DIY. That being said, I cannot begin to help you.

That's likely, Windows 10 64-bit requires that the BMW Standard Tools 2.12 installation program be ran in compatibility mode.

If your use case is simply to code injectors with INPA, I recommend installing INPA for F-Series as opposed to BMW Standard Tools 2.12. It's a lot simpler to install as it's only a single tool (INPA) for diagnostics.

PM shawnsheridan if you need a download link to INPA for F-Series.

So I used the version he sent. It looks a little different. There's like red zones which I assume just indicates the out of range area. All the other tutorials I've seen it was all green in the bar.
