Over the past 3 months, I retro fitted the car with an auto-dimming rear view mirror with HomeLink and compass, auto-dimming side view mirrors that fold, and a new window switch with the fold button. This weekend I had the car coded so that it now knows it has has these features.
A big thanks to Joe@TopGearSolutions for doing the remote coding. |

Big thanks to Turner motor sports for helping out in a pinch with my previously installed starter which had a defect (picked up locally), and Ian in particular was excellent to deal with and went out of his way to take care of me and overnight a new one. Should have taken this route from the beginning. Also bought the BMW factory alarm from himto install and code next week. They had a great deal on it as well. Thanks guys, runs great again.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I took pics of the starters (they were new, not remanuf since $112 why not), and in each case, the bar codes and labels were in a different spot (no quality control). Knock on wood the current one is 2+ yrs. so I guess it's good... wife's bff's husband who is a tech at Lexus said always rebuild the original, costs $20 and will last a lifetime, as opposed to cheap replacement parts... |

My car is in the garage, I don't like to drive it when there's salt on the roads, so it's been there 2 1/2 wks. Probably gonna pop in a new Mahle (BMW branded) air filter today.
F*** I got that ABS trifecta but I cleared it (the stored codes) and it did not come back last time I drove the car. Will eventually need to pull the unit out and send it for the $300 repair.... |

Performance shifter and parking break, and new steering wheel cover. It matches so much better than the stupid chrome.

I dreamed some more about a 2016 Golf R manual with DCC navi and driver assist, red or gray, so it (the 335) can secure its future as a garage queen (really I don't dare take it out when all the roads are completely brined and covered with salt--even our work parking lot has gimungous rock crystals)....

Installed Euro headlights
Tires and Rims - Avant Garde M359 18x8.5 on fronts, 18x9.5 rears. Mounted on Michelin AS/3 with the recommended +1 staggered setup. Kinda wish I'd done the 19's, but I drive her hard at times and was a bit concerned about cracking them... Wasn't all done today, just over the past few days. |
