something weird just happened to my gf's 335. I backed it up from a parking lot, shift in Drive and all of sudden i lost ALL the power. The dash shows "engine service" light and I was still int D. I pushed the start button again and the engine restarted, the light goes away. WTF!?

engine protection....maybe the computer sensed that u shifted from reverse to drive too fast?

coz it happened to me when i was in Performance Driving School....during Skid Pad exercise....my car spun and the engine shuts off automatically for its protection....

i would guess it'll be a bit similar to your situation.....
