Comparing dyno numbers is tricky. Different dynos, different conditions, different cars.... |

Hey guys I'm new to e90post
Reading this info is very helpful, I just bought a 2007 335i Convert and was wondering what a good first mod would be. I was thinking of a tune but I am not sure which would be the best option. btw I have 81k miles Last edited by xhgwx; 05-07-2013 at 10:58 AM.. |

Reading on everything they all seem with a tune alone get the n54 engine about +50hp/tq.
I like the Cobb for it's ease of install plug in and it's done, I came from a mustang so this is how all our tuning was done was through an SCT handheld. But I like the dash controls for the BMS and it's also very cheap compared to Vishnu(procede) and Cobb running around 800. I've never worked on a BMW myself or know anything about a piggyback making me nervous about taking everything apart to get to the ECU to wire in a piggyback. Are the piggybacks easy to install? |

Thanks guy makes me feel a lot better. I have some mechanical skills on my mustang i had replaced headers and had the engine down to the block and heads at one point. I also replaced the front and rear bumpers when they had become worn. I'm more of a body guy than engine. Thanks i think I'll save up for the BMS and go that route. Does the BMS reduce the engine life any? I drive really casually and may open it up once or twice.

On another on, ive heard the 2007(the first year?) for the n54 335s had problems with the fuel pumps failing, are there any other known major problems? Seeing as it has 80k on it and all its maintanence is up to date. I would think its okay? Last edited by xhgwx; 05-09-2013 at 09:31 AM.. |

The HPFP was an issue. The warranty has been extended to 100k I believe. Misfirings are common once you get a tune. I would plan on changing your plugs. This explains it pretty well.

Very easy. It takes a little time to break down the cowl, and engine cover if you have never done it before, but it is not hard.
