For the Style 313 rim owners....I've seen posts and pics of the 19 in rims severely cracking; it's apparently related to run flat tires as their sidewalls are intensely rigid that it is causing rim cracking when making contact with potholes, etc....is this true??

I found a local place that does refinishing for wheels at $150 a pop. I've seen their work firsthand and they use OEM grade paints/shades so the wheels come out nice. I have a spare set of rough 193s sitting on the side of the house I've been meaning to refinish so it would be $600 for the set. Basically the cost of a whole extra set of 193s but this way they come out minty fresh and ready for more curbrash

Tl;dr it depends, call around. You should have a local place that does wheel refinishing. My place is about 20 mins away from my house

My guess that most 19"'s with such a low sidewall are prone to cracks.

I bought a set 313 18" with a non-air-leaking hair crack.
Local shop has done a great weld and pain job - it hold up against BayArea minefield well.

I want so badly to replace my 189's with either 225's or 269's but the roads in Nashville are a mess. I like a little more sidewall and went with 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 PS4S' but I'm not sure that this strategy would work with those 19" wheels. Those 18" 313's would look great and I could transfer the tires but I haven't seen much in the used market.

tcphoto are you running PS4S 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 on stock 189's? I am thinking about same tire size.

Everything I read was that rear sock 8.5 rim is "too narrow" for 265/35/18.
How's it is working out for you? can you post a picture?

My E90 sit on B8's - a bit low for my taste (this is what I got as 4th owner).

I wonder if I'll get any rubbing with 265/35/18

Previous owner had 235/40/18 in the rear with spacer - it was rubbing against fender on some turns. I since then switched (rears) to stock 255/35/18 PS4AS, no spacer, no rubbing.

Yes, 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 and it's worked for the past five years.

I live in the Toronto, Canada area and my 19 in set have all either cracked or bent. The ride is extremely harsh. I am now looking at replacing the set with 18 in but wow does it change the look. I wish I had gone with the 18 in from the beginning.

I've just fitted 245/45 r18 on the rear of my 07 330d e93. It should actually run a 255/35 r18 which is 1.7 inches less in diameter. My reason for doing this is to improve ride quality by increasing the side wall height. I've also noticed that in one way it does actually make the car appeared lowered if you look at the wheel well - the tyres fill up the space more, despite there being 0.85 of an inch more ground clearance. My question is are there any down sides? No rubbing so far....
