Makes perfect sense...all M5's/M6's come with a changer, so no coding is necessary in their case. Although, now there are conflicting reports of coding being necessary to allow everything to sync correctly. Ahh...

That's 15% off, right? Sorry, this BMWCCA thing is still new to me.

Ja, 15%.

But the BMW CCA discount is not standardized across the board at 15%. It varies by the dealer.

I wouldn't doubt it. I don't see why one should take shortcuts here and not code the car properly.

Seeing that I don't want my car to be a dealership test project, maybe I will take Lance's advice and wait a month after all.

When I picked up my 325i from SCBMW in July, I had already paid $444 for the iPod MOST adapter installed. I'm still waiting for the call that they actually have it. Theoretically at least, mine might be the first that SCBMW will install, and I'm happy to be the test case. I don't 0want to bug them every couple of days about it, though, but I'm hoping mine has been ordered and will be in soon. Especially since I paid for it more than a month ago as part of my OOD price. Still waiting for the new Alarm, too!

Very true. Our local BMW Center offers a 10% CCA discount, but our state sales tax is 9.25%.

BTW, the ordered kit should be in tomorrow.

Yeah, I find out it varies from sales person to the next. One guy has no idea what it is, while the other guy thinks the one for e46 will work on the e90. Go figure.

Please let me know when you have it installed. Also let me know who your service advisor is. From my phone call today t seems some people in the parts department have no clue on what's going on.

I might go ahead and place an order tomorrow but will wait until they (the dealership guys) have more experiences before I let them working on my car.

Good luck!

lol.. the dealership I bought my M-sport kit also only gve me 10% CCA discount. But I'm glad organizations such as BMWCCA exists. Waiting for my copy of Roundel to arrive has been my monthly ritual. Also when you buy expensive OEM parts the CCA membership really comes in handy! Big thumbs up for BMWCCA

Perhaps you don´t realize, in terms of an installation, it´s really no different than putting a CD changer in.

But...I would willing to bet BMW Centers do not sell that many CD changers.

lol.. it's a matter of whether the technician who's going to work on my car realize it or not.

I don't want him to take apart my car and THEN come to that realization.

I hope that´s the case but they did come standard on some cars with ,,Premium Sound`` so the technicians have been exposed to them more than once or 2x.

Is there any scanned documentation available that states the software update to make this work should be performed under warranty? I know I'm going to have to fight with my dealer to get them to do it and I want to be prepared.

No, and that is because the cars that are listed as compatible don´t need the upgrade.

Really, so literally it just has to be coded for a cd changer and the interface does the rest? I'm sorry, I've followed the thread since the first post and I'm missed that whole part ... I had it in my head that it need a full software update and coding.

That's cool, one less hurdle.

If the car is within the dates listed, then it doesn't need a full sw update, such as going to PROGMAN 22. The instructions tell the tech to update to the latest i-levels but I'm not sure what this means.

J - Is it safe to infer that the non-compatibility of the pre-Sept 05 vehicles w/ iDrive is due to their older software versions, and that with a software update the adapter would work?

The interface module is compatible with 4th and 5th generation iPods, iPod mini and iPod nano. The interface is not compatible with the 3rd generation iPod or earlier and the iPod shuffle.

Just in case you are unsure if your iPod is compatible here's a link for identifying iPods:

I phoned up my local BMW dealer in the UK today to see if they could install this for me. When I gave them the part number they said it wasn't on their system yet.

They had given me a price yesterday but that must have been for the old iPod adaptor - £295 including fitting but excluding VAT.

If I am not mistaken, the Interface was to be released in the US first and elsewhere to follow a month later. Do not quote me on this though.

Canadian Pricing

I was just at the dealer in Richmond and the parts girl quoted me $690 for the part and said it would be about $900 CAD installed.

I was floored and asked how it could be so much higher than the prices I am seeing in the US. She figured it was because they wouldn't be ordering a lot up here so they couldn't get the bulk pricing the US does.

Anyone else in Canada get any pricing because this is so much higher it just doesn't seem right.
