It has been shown to lose power due to it's open airbox design. It heatsoaks easily. The stock design is pretty good, but it's quiet.

Francis, remember that not all dyno's are alike. Some measure estimated crank HP, some give more generous numbers, some are conservative. It's really hard to reproduce what actually happens on the road on a dyno. They're notoriously inaccurate because of the associated conditions of a run. My car has shown 218 on one dyno and 209 on another dyno of the same brand and type! Same tune as well. Even the pressure temperature, and humidity were close. The ecu is pretty sensitive to even the smallest change in conditions. But taking all of this into account, there is a gain in power and torque, but it's really hard to know exactly how much.
thank e90pilot for the headsup on the intake; i guess i'll be looking to get blacklines instead haha

Hi everyone,
My car is a 2009 325i LCI (euro model) 3.0L.
I'm very interested in this conversion.
I've made a couple of posts about this but got no lucks.

I'm from Vietnam, & the only problem for me is the tune.

From what I read here, my car needs to be physically at the dyno with a technician so he can tune/re-map it. I dont think I could do that.

Please advice,

Thanks,
Dung

I doesn't need to be at the dyno. You just need to either send out the ECU or have someone install it with the proper cable. No dyno required.

Hi e90pilot,
Thanks for the response.
I sent out couple of emails to AA, 1 to ESS, & 1 to Lutz Performance (a member here recommended it to me).
It's been more than a month & haven't heard back from them.
Probably they don't wanna deal with International order??

Do you know any1 you can refer me to?
Thanks for your time,
Dung

Try JLeviSW. You can PM them on this forum, call or even Skype them. They deal with AA. The guy I dealt with is no longer there but try them out.

Why'd you change over to AA from having the OE tune?

OE tune was knocking. Also had a pretty severe misfires every once and a while. Three attempts to fix it didn't solve the issues, so I gave up.

where would you say the best place to get a three stage is? I checked Tischer and its about 600 just for the manifold but some people are apparently getting them for 400?

Car-part.com

When you call the company, ask them to take a pic of the item so you can tell if it is the correct one.

Its not one place, the site basically has a database of a bunch of salvage yards. I did purchase one from Brickyard Imports. It wasnt the correct item, but they were more than polite and easy to work with on the return. I bought another one from Bavarian Auto Recycling and will NEVER deal with them again. Completely unprofessional.

All I will say here is make sure they send your pictures before you buy. You can see whether it is the correct one and also see if other parts are included with the unit.

I managed to score a full like new set for dirt cheap, but the ppl at the salvage yard were amazing with getting me all the information I needed (including vin history of the car it came off from).

What salvage yard did you go through? And are you saying the manifold you bought came with the actuators?

His did yes, mine didnt. I asked verbally about the adjuster units and was confirmed. When it arrived it was stripped. BAR offered a refund, which wasnt what I wanted...I wanted the actuators. The second manifold I purchased wasnt even for the e90 330i it was for the e46 m54 and was a single stage intake. Waste of time...

Do as he and I suggested, ask for pictures and confirm that it comes with the parts in the picture and you could luck out and get a whole unit for $250-350. I learned the hard way. I have a used manifold I paid over $300 for and no other parts. Had to order new adjusters for $325...

No major problems but there're still a few hiccups in the map.

Can you explain the hiccups? I am still on the fence about which tune to get.

OEtuning

AA tune

They're literally little hiccups as you increase the throttle. It's especially noticeable when it's cold outside.

hmmm...cold in oakland compared to cold in BC would mean a lot more hiccups. Might be a one off thing with your ride. I never heard of this before.
