We purchased our ED 335i (May) and also got $1000 off MSRP. These cars hold their values well compared to others(MB) and even if we decide to sell it in 2-3 years, I feel we will be better off than leasing.

moonraker, did you crunch the numbers yet?

if i take my ED savings and apply that as a down payment rather than a cap reduction...the monthly comes out higher.
Well, when I said "put money down on a lease" I really meant cap cost reduction. My argument is that spending the "cap cost reduction" on a trip to Europe rather than towards cap cost reduction itself is a way better deal.

Usually, at a minimum the first check you write to BMW will probably be around $1500 (first month's payment, DMV registration fees, security deposit). But this isn't a cap cost reduction.

flexibility on ED date

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying an E93 ED. However I have a question regarding the delivery date.
Can I get the car anytime after the scheduled delivery day, or do I need to come precisely on this day? In other words, how easy is it to reschedule the delivery date?

I'm flying quite often to Europe for Business, however today I can't know for sure when I'll be there!

Thanks!

The date is held for you and you're expected to pick it up on that date.Currently, the ED Center in Munich can only handle 15 -20 deliveries per day and when the dates are filled,it's very difficult to add someone to the following day. There is much more flexibility on dropping off,but that is only allowed from 7:30 - 3:30 M - F & under special circumstances and depending on location, possibly a Sat or Sun.
I'm sure once the new delivery center is open ( The Welt ) they'll be able to handle more than 50 deliveries per day and should have more flexibility in changing dates.

at what point in the purchase or lease process does one get the 'delivery date' identified?

If you're doing an ED,that's the first step is requesting a certain date of pickup with all of the options and color. If it's a US pick up,you can ask the dealer for a specific pick up date and they'll try to make it work for you.

I have a confirmed pickup date of 6/18/07. This one had to come out of allocation so I had to pay a slight premium for it. $1500 over ED Invoice.

Thanks! I would have done it for a different month if our travel date plans weren't so fixed. I also got a production number a week ago.

Ok, I've read through a lot of this and I just want to make sure I've got my ducks in a row before I go in to the dealership and they baffle me with smoke and mirrors.

I'm ordering a 335ci. I get it for just over invoice because I'm an employee (same company I'm not in auto sales though).

I've done my research and it seems US invoice on my car is $41,820. Euro invoice is $38,830. They have to order the car so, I figure I might as get a trip to Europe out of it.

I'm getting 6,500-7000K out of my trade. I'm going to lease it. I plan to put enough of a cap cost reduction down to keep my payment in the 500 a month range. Am I way off in thinking it will be a smaller CCR because of the lower ED price?

I would suggest that you put minimum down and utilize the Multiple Security Deposits(MSD). This way you wont lose your down payment if something were to happen and you will get the deposits back.

I can almost guarantee your payments wil be in the $450-500 range if you do the MSD and put minimum down (unless of course you drive like 20k miles a year).

I'm glad you said that. I'll need to ask my local BMW stealership about that. I have never heard of MSD's and they conveniently neglected to mention anything about them even being an option when we where paying a CCR on my wife's car.

I generally do @12K miles a year.

I'm basically looking to get at least the payment I want and the travel expenses of the ED out of the money I'm making off my trade if possible. I don't think it should be a problem but, you never know with the finance guru's at my local dealership.

OK, so after initial discussions with the dealership it looks like I can have the same monthly payment and terms for @2300-2500 less due at signing by doing the ED. I'm pretty stoked about that.

Now for my next questions.

How many people actually do the Conde Nast travel packages or do you make your own travel plans?
If you've done one of the CN packages, what exactly is included?

I tried looking on the BMW US website and it is kind of vague. I looked on the CN website and couldn't find anything. It seems the hotels are a definite, meals are possibility, and I've heard rumors of a travel itinerary. At $2500-3000 a person they seem a little expensive to be just a hotel package and an itinerary. Maybe I'm just cheap, IDK.

The dealership couldn't answer my questions about it. They told me they encourage most people to contact a travel agent and plan their own trip. Which is what I'm thinking of doing.

good job on the deal.

As for CN, it basically is like a tour. They take you places and book world class hotels for you. $2500-3000 is a lot though. I dont think it includes air fare so that's another $1000-1500. Is it worth it?? I dont know.

Thanks.

Definitely doesn't include air. I saw on the Lufthansa website you can find rates at @ $500 round trip leaving NY to Munich. I'm going to contact Lufthansa about the 2 for 1 they give on ED program to see if that price qualifies for that program.:rocks:

I've got the number of a guy who owns a travel agency and works for the company I do on the side. Hopefully he'll be able to hook a brother up.

Definitely looking forward to it.

Anyone have Sabine Schmidt's phone number?

For the 2 for 1 deal, you can only book through Lufthansa. They have a separate department that handles BMW customers (it's separate from their 24 hour line). You definitely cant do it through the travel agent and that $500 wont be applicable for the 2 for 1 deal.

That's what I figured on the two for one.

On a side note not really strictly related to ED. The numbers they gave me seem to be a little high for the selling price compared to what we did on my wifes 335i. There are a few differences in the terms, hers is a sedan that supposedly has a much much better residual and is only 2 years at 10K miles a year, her payment is $475 a month with a $3500 CCR. Mine would be on coupe for 3 years at 12k miles a year.

I don't have the numbers right in front of me and they haven't given me a complete breakdown of costs yet but, the US MSRP is something like $45K I think the settled price for ED was right around $40K. The residual after three years was going to be $27K and change.

I told them I didn't want to pay more than $500 a month. They came up with $4,500 cap for US delivery or $2,243 for ED at $499 a month. Maybe I'm wrong but that just seems a little off. Any suggestions?

I can tell you that for MSRP of $45,600 with $2200 due at signing, 12k/year for 36 months, payment is exactly $500. This is at $200 over ED invoice.

OK, well maybe I was just getting too wrapped up in my wife's deal. After thinking about the lower residual, more mileage and longer term vs, hers it makes sense.

Thanks.
I'm getting pretty excited. Going Saturday to get the car ordered.

Also, I'm going to research it more but, somewhere in the bimmerfest ED section I saw someone said BMWFS pays your second month's payment because the car is on the boat. Is there any truth to that?

I ordered the car Saturday. Space Grey, Coral Red, Sport, prem, heated seats.

On a side note, Are they going to drill holes in my bumper for the Euro tags or do they mount some other way? My state doesn't require a front plate and I'm not too jazzed about having holes in my bumper.
