There is a rubber flange that makes the console essentially airtight, this is what makes it difficult to close without some force. (Look for it around the edge of the part that folds up) I assume it is there to keep the hot or cold air that comes from the cup holder in the console.

DTC is a lesser version of DSC ... it isn't something separate than runs alongside DSC during normal use.
I think this argument is useless and doesn't really prove anything. You here have stated that DTC is a lesser version of DSC. So that would mean that DTC is always on, then extra security measure are enable, and the entire package name changes to DSC.

Who cares what its called, so long as you don't mess with the button if you don't know what you're doing.

To cancel the turn signal, you don't push it the opposite direction. You push it slightly (not beyond the resistance point) in the same direction as the blinking side.

The blinkers are intuitive once you get used to them and now I don't like driving cars with "normal" blinkers.
I couldn't get past how ignorant the E60 reviewer for the WSJ was when he bashed the car for have retarded signals. It's the same when these people bash iDrive, if you can use a mouse/Microsoft Word, you should be more than capable of using iDrive.

You should see them in the new ES350. I was in the back playing with them for a good 10 minutes while in traffic in Manhattan. They have the slow retraction couple with a levered/split handle. Pretty crazy for such a simple component. I'm not sure if thats attention or overkill. On a side note, their nav sucks except for its destination search feature and use of actual store POI icons on the maps.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but since people keep picking it up I'm going to start a new one..... and reply to this there.

Here's another.......vehicle roll back assist.....when on a hill....if you release the foot brake (while parking brake is off) the car will not roll back for about a two-second time period even if loaded up...., after that it releases.

Of course you can add POI to the BMW nav with a bit of know how:

Make sure the adjustment button is pushed to the right. (Driver side mirror.)

The 'side mirror adjust button' needs to be set to the LEFT to have the passenger side mirror tilt down during reverse. It is mostly used for parallel parking.

All this time, I have been saying "Map, Direction of Travel" or "Map, Facing North" at the voice entry to get the map screen. It turns out all you have to say is "Map." The computer will turn on the map in the view you used last.

Nice one - I shall try it.

Makes sense since I use 'perspective' for the perspective view

Mine doesn't. I have to push in the clutch and to it manually.
