Quite honestly I have never interacted with the Dinan flashed ROMs. If you want to PM I can work with you to verify what we need to do before actually flashing the ECU.

Theoretically the AccessPORT should work on your car given your ECU software numbers are the same as the rest of the cars. I have never, myself, tested on a Z4 3.5i. PM you info and we can chat about getting you setup.

Cheers,

So, I see it says USDM on the site... so it can't be used in Europe at all? If so,

They did mention looking into European versions after doing just about every other version (xi, N55 etc.) though....

I guess most of us in Europe are already running a tune, but would prefer this solution. And be willing to pay for it and not bitch too much about the cost either....

I'd prefer to wait but still have an estimate from Cobb. Waiting blindly is not my cup of tea. I know Cobb has a lot on their table, but not recieving some sort of clue as to when they plan to support eu ecu's is perhaps not the best way to keep an impatient sucker like me happy.

I assume you guys could have come out with a 'piggy' if you had wanted - just curious what engine parameters your specific system seems to manage better with the flash approach [did you do any competitive product comparisons?]. Offhand, the Cobb platform seems to produce a bit more power than the other flashes, why? Obviously you're not going to reveal any proprietary stuff, but just asking in a general sense.

This is awesome. I had a Cobb Tuned Subaru Legacy GT Auto and Legacy spec.B 6MT before getting the 335xi. I cannot wait until this is out for the 07 ECU and xi. By the way, (I have no affiliation) anyone in No. VA Mach V is an awesome, very professional, and knowledgeable tuning shop with and AWD dyno. I took my Subarus there. They just sold their Mini shop car and got a 335i. Their facebook page says they have the BMW accessports in stock. They specialized in Subaru and Mimi but seem to be moving hard into BMW. I have seen a lot of posts of BMW's on the dyno plus the new shop car.

I don't know when the EDM market will be covered. I'm assuming with this press release, some tuners/end-users will probably get in contact with us and we can add them to our field testers? This is all speculation on my end...

Well if Cobb need private testers in the EU, just let us know.... I for one have less patience than a wasp on EPO.....

Features like speed delimiter, DP fix etc. are also important. I have the BMS fixes, but would love to be able to code, change map and analyse/modify from the OBD connector.

Well, anyway, my Quiafe LSD is being installed Tuesday, so at least I'll have that to look forward to while waiting anxiously.....

THey are running more boost than other stage 1 flashes.

Yeah, I noticed that, but I suppose my question is: why, how?... or is it just a matter of seeing how far you can push the envelope?

Yes, in Portland called COBB Tuning Surgeline. The shop's website is at http://cobbtuningsurgeline.com

Tim Bailey is the head tuner and Dustin Harris is the lead tech. You cannot go wrong with these guys!

We can't answer that question as we don't know what tables and algorithms the other solutions have discovered. All that we can comment on is that with the control that we have of ecu parameters and with our understanding of the ECU logic, we are very comfortable with the stability and safety of these Stage1 Off-The-Shelf maps.

We certainly understand your position, but at the same time, providing you an ETA that we don't have a lot of confidence in due to the number of unknowns will cause even more frustration on the community if we miss it.

We're just not close enough at this time to provide estimates.

Thanks,

Gary

We have control of the ECU, pushing the power to a level we still feel is conservative. It's likely we will add more power as we continue to develop the platform. I have pushed my stock car pretty hard on 93 octane making a good bit more tq and hp than out current stage 1, but it's not as consistent given the, what seems to be, over active knock control.

We have had a chance to sample some of the competition products and how they work. From the one flash product I have dyno'ed first hand, they seem to be super conservative in the lower RPM torque, but still push the power up high. I don't think this nameless flash I have tested is given enough credit, as far as power goes, in this market.

Hope that helps,
Rob
