actually this design having the turbos in the rear works very well , no im not saying this m5 setup looks pretty. but there is a company called Squires turbo system aka STS and they are very successful with the rear mount turbo design.

A lot will depend on the outcome. I don't think any of us have ever seen a fully tuned single turbo n54 running 20+psi of boost. If it ends up making substantially more than the ~500-520whp that we can make with upgraded BB twins AND do so while still preserving drivability/response, the there is no reason not to go into production. But if gains are incremental and/or low end torque is inadequate, then we will just take this as a lesson learned and move on.

But according to my figures and experience with similar turbos running on engines of similar (or lower displacement), this combo is going to absolutely kill. And it will provide us a proper test bed for an upgraded fuel system.

Hey Shiv, I was wondering if the fueling solution you're developing with the single turbo will be compatible with rev3 only? Or are there plans to make it work with the I/O channels available on the 2/2.5 as well?

I think Shiv can use Nitrous to get rid of the lag down low. That would be perfect

Using nitrous on a car intended to be driven daily to and from work(as most on this board do) to counteract a high boost threshold is just not a viable option. If the turbo is sized correctly this shouldnt be an issue.

The only way lag is eliminated is smaller turbos. A large turbo will for sure lag and to counter the lag by nitrous is a viable option for drag racing which alot of people on this forum worry about. I am not saying using the nitrous for everyday but for those that cares about their 1/4 times

You can go biggger turbo without going too big. Yes in a pure track setting nitrous assist would benefit greatly, but i dont think this is shiv's goal. I guess if the development goes well, you could just order the kit minus turbo and go crazy if you want lol

For drag strip purposes I see no problem with a small shot of nitrous for lag, but I dont think the lag is going to be as bad as many think, and I dont think there will be enough traction to hold it anyway.

I can almost guarantee that at the point where we have a large single producing ~600 WHP, even a small nitrous shot would be enough to cause engine failure. One little f-up of spraying slightly too high in the RPM range and boom...

Actually I wouldnt worry about nitrous spraying too high, if anything spraying too low where all the torque is. Torque kills motors
