So Puerto Rican 335d, you live in a similar climate to me (Florida/Georgia), hot and humid. I've noticed as the outside temperature has started into the 90+*F my car is experiencing some heat soak issues. When its cold I have full power but after some stop and go low speed city driving in the heat there's a drop in power.
Since you're running the Wagner IC, what's your experience in the heat driving your car? I don't expect more power from an IC, I want usable power for longer (less heat soak). I am used to heat soak with my Shelby GT500, they're notorious for it with the stock heat exchanger (air to water IC). So a common mod on these cars is a larger heat exchanger with fans and it makes a huge difference.

Ok Brad since our OEM IC's generally made NOT to be a performance based after one good run you will get Heat Soaked, with the WAGNER you will have better airflow and hence cooler air for the turbos even after a few runs!!, that said, I suggest you go ahead and either go piggyback a la JB or Flash a la RENNtech as i have. With the WAGNER you will have less HEAT soak though!! My car runs way much better since the inception of the WAGNER during heavy traffic and thus giving me better city mpg than before, mind you, Im kind of a racer though. hope this clears you mindset in getting one its comparably CHEAPER than any 335i IC yes you read that right 335i IC outhere!!

So if I understand correctly, the Wagner uses the factory quick connect couplings? So basically I remove the underbody tray, and uncouple the factory IC and replace it with the Wagner IC? Anything more complicated that that? I was planning on doing it with a floor jack and jack stands in my garage (I have a full assortment of tools). If its more involved than you think you would do on your back in the garage, I will take it with me next time to my Father's shop in Daytona, and do it on a lift. Lets face it, cooler air is going to help, and by keeping the inlet air temps down with a more efficient unit, I'm going to stay at full power longer, and recover from heatsoak faster no matter what anyone says. The upper turbo's mounting location isn't helping the charge air stay cool at all, so getting the inlet air temps as low as possible is what I'm looking for.

Am I the only one that thinks there is something wrong with advertising that it doesnt require cutting when in fact it does? One of those things that it might not affect the decision, but knowing up front reflects a lot better on the company than getting a surprise

Hooper I hv the ic and we had to cut one foot long by one fourth of an inch. Carsten Wagner is aware of this I told him about it there is nothing he can do cause the original Wagner ic instal was performed on a 335d Wagon over at Germany therefore under side of front panel are different than our USA 335d Sedans. We should thank 335d Wagon on this bcause of him is why there is the ONLY plug and play IC in the market for our cars

First are foremost, sorry for the lack of quantifiable data in this post...just an anecdotal observation that i found interesting...
Ok, folks, so it is 91 degrees today in dc (and humid). I drove the d for 170 miles (some city, mostly highway) only stopping once at circa 90 miles into the trip. On both parking occasions when I cut the engine the radiator fan kicked off immediately. This is abnormal, as they typically run for at least 30-60 seconds after I turn the car off when I don't have the JBD Plugged in. One concern I had was that the IC covers the AC coil, but the AC was putting out arctic cold air as always. We'll see how she does once the JBD is plugged in and once I get stuck in Summer DC traffic. My commute can be tackled in <30 minutes sans traffic, but often takes up to 2.5 hours if the going gets rough..Will report back. @Hoooper, FYI, I Needed to perform no cutting to install the IC. However. Installation would have been significantly faster if I had chosen to cut the plastic piece which butts up against the IC. With that said though, no cutting was actually required (but I agree that a simple "no cutting required, but cutting can be performed for ease of installation" note would be more than enough of a heads up to keep most people happy).

So I have to trim some plastic. This could be the easiest install next to the JBD I've done on any of my cars ever.
Any of you done long tube headers on a Shelby? This IC is child's play, stop complaining.

FYI, 97 degrees over the weekend and several long duration city driving trips, several decent length highway trips later, I still haven't witnessed the radiator fan running after shut-down of the engine...I'm actually starting to be impressed by this black chunk of metal under the bumper. Next step would be to kick up the driving style and see what happens, but is rather wait for a track day to do that. |

Well if the heatsoak is just about nullified, then the IC seems like a good deal. Has anyone with it installed seen better MPG highway? If the acclaimed 42+ mpg is true, than I will see a return of investment in just 8 months (I drive 600mi/week).
I will possibly order this tomorrow or Monday. I will try to setup a Dyno run with stock, JBD, and JBD+Wagner IC on the same day. Edit: if anyone was wondering, these won't be available to ship until at least the 12th of Dec.

I have a different aftermarket i/c and otherwise stock (no power increase).
My best MPG was at 40.8 which included climbing to 4000ft twice and back home. On a flat freeway I am sure it will do better than that, not by much of course but possibly brake 41MPG. |

I ordered the IC today, should arrive in a week. I'm trying to get a dyno run setup next weekend or the weekend after Christmas. I'm not sure if they'll let me install the IC on the dyno, lol. We'll see.
