Recall: Battery Cable Connector for BMW 1 Series (E8X), 3 Series (E9X), Z4 (E89)

i just called to make an appt no letter needed and i got the car back the same day.

No letter yet, but I took my car in this week to have this done and also the 6 year old battery replaced - I was getting a yellow battery symbol with only a few seconds of leaving the key in the ignition and running accessories without engine running.

When I got my car back, it is significantly more responsive! Tech said battery was disconnected for almost an hour. Wondering if that would reset adaptations?

Anyway, very happy with the repair and the new battery!

Was at the dealer this morning for a service and they did this. I didn't receive a letter or anything but they took care of it. Recall itself Took a couple hours to do.

Would I have to contact the dealer or BMWNA?

My letter describes how to get refund for this if you have already paid out of pocket - can let ya know once I'm home, or someone else can post up what their letter states about refund

Does anyone have their radar detector hardwired to the fusebox? If so, do I take it out or can I leave it without ticking off the service advisor?

Wow, some of you guys must have some real hard a$$ SA's

My SA doesn't give 2 $hits about anything I do on the car & it's still under warranty + Maintenance Warranty - in fact, they always compliment me on any mods I've done to the car

I have my Escort hardwired to fusebox as well as my CurbAlert Pro with the appropriate fuse tap.

Had the Recall Service done - no one said a thing...

Hi, I got this done in December, they did a whole cable replacement, before the recall.... After that I had issues with dash lighting up like xmas, speedo going to 0, and a bunch of weird stuff, I went back on March 20, and the battery needed to be replaced, they also switched the connectors on the cables...

From what I am reading here, I get my money back for the cable, will they refund the battery too since it killed it? It's only fair, at least the labour for the battery... This stuff cost me over 1.5 grand! The only problems I have had with the vehicle.

I would also like to know since all this work was before recall, I still never got a letter, is there more work to be done now? would the replacement parts they put in have this issue?

!!! I recieved this recall letter today. I've been pissed at BMW for a year now. Because my car stalled in the middle of the highway and was about to b crushed by trucks luckly a cop stopped traffic with it's siren and lights. My
335 was towed to my stealership and I payed them 2400.00 for parts and labor after fighting and arguing with every worker their. My arguement was I shouldnt of had to pay for anything even if it wasnt under warranty reason being, I was almost killed. Can't wait for tomorrow and shove the invoice in their face.
I'm getting my money back.

Getting it done right now, along with a new backseat. There's a seam stitching that came loose, so they're replacing the whole seat.

Meanwhile I'm driving around in a F30 328i. I have a love/hate relationship with this car. It feels disconnected to the road, but the interior has all the right dimensions, while not much of an increase on the exterior. I didn't feel cramped at all when I pulled into my spot in the garage. And holy shit, the gas mileage! Wow! Doing mostly around 80mph for about 260 miles and the MPG shown on the BC was 34.5mpg. That would never happen with my E90 328i.

I think I may have had this problem on my 06 330i also other day, I may end up calling bmw na today after I find out at dealer exactly what was replaced. Maybe I can push bmw na to cover my repair down road via refund.

How many cables are there for this, my SA showed me a part number of the recall and thats why im not going to get my refund. The part number he showed me was $32. I payed alot more.

I had part numbers 61-14-9-119-447 & 61-12-9-269-907 replaced isnt this the recall?

I believe there was the old way (how yours was done) and the new way (what the SA is telling you). It seems BMW change how to do the recall since the "old way" would have cost them an arm and a leg. And the new way is a LOT easier without as much labor.

I could be very wrong but that's how I understand it. If the SA won't help, talk to the service manager. If they won't help call BMW USA. If they won't help, there is always your local news and the NHTSA.

Just got this letter now. My 2008 335i has only 26k miles. I use a trickle charger when I'm not using it.
