Cheers Brule. ST conversion is a bloody massive pinta, only reason I went this route is to avoid having smoking aftermarket twins again.... Anyone considering this wants to put away at least 15K and buy a POS car to run around in. Most of the work is not in the turbo and pipes. Its in all the little bits of stuff like hose clamps, elbows, heat shielding and the constant fitting, removing and refitting to get everything to squeeze in etc. Truth be told I reckon we installed the whole thing about 8 times by the time we got to the end lol That said, I hope there are a few more peeps having a go at this, I have spare filters and hoses that we would love to sell off lol

It's depressing not being able to drive your car only one more week until I can drive mine.

Congratulations Socks and Vince for getting it running. With regards to your brake issue, how is the vacuum on the brake booster? Is there any vacuum leaks?

Leak in booster would be hard pedal not soft.

Did you install big brakes? If so did you upsize master cyl to suit?

Congrats on getting it running. Hopefully this build will show people why i have to cgarge what i do for drive in drive out ST swaps. Its a bloody nightmare for sure.

End results is def worth it but!

Thanks Duck. No didn't upsize master cylinder, although that seems like the next logical choice.. Does the M3 MC displace more brake fluid than the OEM MC?

Yep

Though if it's really bad, it'll more likely be that you have air in the DSC. There's an automated way to bleed the brakes but failing that tapping on the DSC with a mallet while bleeding may also do the trick.

Massive tip of the hat to both yourself and Vince.
This is a massive effort.
And to think that it all happened without a hoist and on the floor of a garage.
Congrats mate. Job well done.
Cant wait to see it tuned and running to its full potential

We have installed an AP racing big brake kit. Have bled the system using conventional pressure bleed and pressure bleed + DSC bleed several times with no success. Pedal has a very long throw on the first press then firms up on subsequent presses. Pedal slowly sinks when engine is running with vacuum assist on the brakes. The booster holds vacuum when the cars off.

Master cylinder has been swapped for a brand new one with new seals. No leaks detected from the brake lines or anywhere on the caliper.

Very puzzling maybe needs an upgraded master but as far as we know this AP racing brake kit is designed to work with a stock master.
