Any official notices?

I have been hounding my dealer about the lag issue for over 6 months now. First he claimed there was no lag - just in my head. Now he is coming around and says BMW will have an update out BUT ONLY IN JUNE. I tried telling him that what I have heard is late Jan/Feb but he said THE OFFICIAL NOTICE THEY GOT FROM BMW SAYS JUNE. Now I cannot argue that based on some blogs.

Does anyone have any official notice (a SIB, a TSB or atleast some official website somewhere)? That would help me tremendously as I am sure it would other folks here.

Cheers!

Call BMWNA customer service. I've been told by multiple reps there that it is January. In fact, they've recently REFUSED to help me at all on the basis of the "fix" being so close to now.

They successfully stalled and denied long enough that the "it's just around the corner" excuse actually works. Of course, the courts will decide whether that was a fair way to treat paying customers.

Well, I hope it is v.32 that has the fix, but I speculate that is is v.32.1 from
reading the note a bottom of Page 1 of:
http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/attachments/B061108Slides.pdf

– Release of the new DME software which
restores the original turbocharger response
is planned for 01/09
– ISTA/P2.32.1

Nothing new in the mid-December update.

Fwiw it does not appear to be the mid-Dec update; I was told that it was the new version 32 specifically for lag elimination. When they got the disks in today, their computer sent up a reminder to contact me regarding the lag fix.

I would like to get my wastegate actuators fixed as well, but they need to test and order parts -- that could be another week.

Wow, awesome. You will become the community's #1 friend come Friday, man!

I feel your pain for all the questions you'll get!
- What did the paperwork say
- What official version are the calling it
- Are the "new" versions now called P#.#.# rather than V##.#
- How long did the update take
- Does it feel different
- Is the lag gone
- Does the engine sound different
- Does the exhaust sound different

I'm excited for you and for us to see what happens!

I have an appointment Friday also for v32

I just changed it to early next week since they called and do not have a loaner car for me until next week.

Oh joy! Did your dealer call or did you bug them? I know NJ gets things just before PA, but my dealer damn well better call me soon. I would like to avoid the awkward "Yeah I'm calling to schedule an appointment to get the update I know you have, but you didn't let me know you had."

I saw the post from Stress and sent my SM an e-mail last night. I actually awoke this morning to a phone call from the receptionist at my dealership to schedule the appointment for me.

I think the answer is YES. I found this quote in another TSB:

Ignore the fault. Resetting of the oil aging status will be corrected with ISTA/P programming software version P2.33.0.

In regard to the labels P and v., this involves a major change in the software process. The service depts had to swap out their Software Service Stations (SSS -- now termed Integrated Software Service Stations, or ISSS). The ISTA/P is the new programming tool that is replacing the Progman tool. It requires the 3rd Gen ISIS. The SSS r1s are being junked. This is partly why it has taken awhile to get v.32 up and running. I should think that Shiv and a few other folks might have a lot of fun if they managed to get their hands on one. The v. stands for version. The new label just adds the P2 before the version to identify the new system. One interesting development is that the data will now stream to ISTA rather than to Siemans. This may provide more direct monitoring of data by BMW.

I have a 04/2008 production 335i coupe that seems to suffer the lag issue. I am installing a OEM alarm in January. I am wondering if I wait long enough for v.32 to make it into my dealer if having the alarm programed will also net me the full software update?

According to BMW my car "should be" unaffected but it just does not seem to drive the same to sound the same as it did during our end of April 2008 ED and it sounds like it is possible I could have the older DME as it sounded like it could just be luck of the draw during the April production month as to who got what (at least as noted in the flow charts noted earlier in this thread)

Some good news!

From this thread:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197084

"- The wind up and go acceleration is gone (before when I slammed on the gas it felt like my car was winding up and then took off -lag?-. Now when I smash on the pedal the car instantly responds! It feels great"

PA dealerships have the lag-fix s/w - just scheduled appt. for next week. Surprisingly enough (NOT) no one from the dealership called me to let me know s/w is in house - although they all promised to. Hoping for the best but have reservations.

I suggest that everyone that is going in for 32 try and conduct some objective before&after tests. Standardize the conditions (same temp, warm-up, weight, etc.) and run trials like 20-80 in 5th gear, 5-100 rolling starts, etc. And the good-old seat-of-the-pants runs through your favorite twisties. Get the new software adapted properly with some intense runs.

And then report back here with your results!
