So I'm still under warranty and I don't want the dealer to say anything, but I've been contemplating a Cobb tune without any other mods. Is it a worthwhile mod on stock? I just plan to disconnect when I take it to the dealer.

Very much worth it. It will wake up your car like you would not belive. And if you can get 93-94 octane you can run agressive tune. Gotta warn you though this is where the mod bug will get you. Next will be Downpipes, Intercooler, Intake till you get to Full Bolt on status. Modding is very addictive.
Regarding the dealer. Yea the beauty of Cobb is ability to unis tall in seconds and put back to a stock tune. Cobb also has valet so if a valet or someone nerds to use your car it tunes it way down and will not rev very high. I purchased a Protune from PTF and the car is beyond what I expected. The results are practically a 'new car' due to how fast and smooth it is. The N54 is an amazing engine. Keep in mind that while a COBB will enhance the car without any other mods, the stock FMIC is quite undersized and the car will start pulling back the power after the stock FMIC heatsoaks. You can witness this by watching the Charge Temp; ideal is <= 100*F (really, lower is better). The stock unit on my car would hit over 130 after one pull. I purchased a COBB stepped FMIC and it rarely hits 130* unless I am running the car extremely hard in the middle of a summer day. It keeps the car happy. |

Wow you guys really convinced me now. I'd be scared about overheating though on a stock fmic. Will the temps hit that high on all maps or just aggressive? I get 93 octane here in nj no problem.

New 335is Owner
Hello Everyone
I recently got a 2012 335is with less than 3,000 miles. I have driven other 3 series before, but the 335is definitely feel like the "ultimate driving machine", car is a dream, absolutely love driving the thing, steering feel, handling and exhaust note are the best features of the car, not to mention the brutal acceleration once the turbos kick in . Never understood why BMW put such bland looking brakes on this model.

More importantly, the fact that they are sliding calipers makes them feel absolutely horrible. Really bad brake feel out of the box... even after a proper gravity bleed.
Stoptech BBK fixed all that |

Is anyone running size 255/35/19 tires in the rear? The tires that I want don't come in the oem 255/30/19 size. Will going with the 35's be an issue? I asked a rep from tire rack and he said to just pick a different tire.

You can also do 265/30/19 and 275/30/19
That's what I plan to do when I move away from RFT's.

So I just put on a Performance exhaust with no other mods but a DCI and I don't like the sound at all compared to the original iS exhaust. Its actually tamer believe it or not. It almost purrs similar to a stock 370z or g37s but not as loud. No more gurgles and pops, barely. I am very disappointed. Will have to slap my DP's back on and see if I like it then. Sigh.

I doubt you'll even notice the difference...
+1 on just going with a wider tire.

Wow no kidding, Yes you have to love the 'is' exhaust. Bout the best OEM I have ever heard. I am dealing with to much rasp on mine after putting catless down pipes on. So debating if catted down pipes will make a difference or not.
Cobb just released there N54 catted down piples and they look awesome with 200 CEL cats. Does anyone think it is worth trying these vs the catless? Thanks, Quote:
