I want to put together a short (~6" barrel) 300BLK but have only found a few reviews on the handful of available barrels out there that are this short or shorter: https://loadoutroom.com/111647/ultra...rels-round-up/ Currently have a 10.5" barrel 300BLK, but with a Specwar 7.62 hanging off the end it's definitely more muzzle heavy than I would like. What made you go with Fostech over Franklin? I'm putting it in a .223, may get a .22lr conversion if I end up liking/keeping it.

All that aside, the Echo seems to have a soft casting for the hammer and over time the BCG face will dent into it. Not sure they have addressed that problem yet.

Very nice condition indeed, stocks are mint.
All that's missing is a Springfield '03.

Larry Vickers was a custom Carbine class where a bunch of us guys hiring for that class. I felt the class was less than what I learned from Magpul Dynamics, but it's possible because the class was less experience? We did get a chance to shoot from a moving vehicle which was extremely awesome. Did a Thunder Beast training class with Ray Sanchez for long range shooting.. was extremely interesting class.. wish I could retained all the knowledge he gave out for long range shooting. Thing I got out of it was generating a accurate ballistic chart without an chronograph to measure your muzzle velocity. Done a couple of handgun classes.. but nothing really special. I want to take one more dedicated to defensive handgun techniques as well as a medical class. Not a lot of that comes near my area so I usually end up going to different states for my training. |

Curious, how do you go about that? I've got all my cards done, but wondering what this method is.

Basically shoot targets at different ranges and keep track of your elevation. Knob value. Then enter all info into your ballistic calculatoand if your have a quality app, I should allow you to adjust your muzzle velocity until the table matches your recorded values.

Anyone else who is urban or suburban and just jealous of people with open land?
I lived in the middle of the city for like 25 years of my life. Recently moved to the suburbs when I bought my first house. If I want to shoot I have to go to a gun range. I am just seriously jealous of seeing people who have a ton of land and if they want they just get some rounds from Walmart and just unload in the woods. Like on the Demolition Ranch YT videos I watch. You save so much on a range fee/membership and lane rentals, etc. |

I'm so jealous of people with land. I can retire in 51 months and I plan on moving out of the city and looking for at least 10 acres. I don't need to shoot that far so that should be enough to make a pistol and short rifle range in my backyard.

Maple Leaf, if and when I buy a rifle for longer shooting I'll probably go to Silverdale. I've been a few times and my wife doesn't like it there. It sort of gives the vibe of everything that's wrong with gun clubs. Just my opinion though.

I was a member at Silverdale for a year or two. Can concur. Watch yourself there - far too lax with rules and regulations IMO, which attracts a certain type. I think they also had a shooting accident there a few years back (after I left). Have a local club north of Toronto now which is far more by the book, and while that can be a pain sometimes, I'm fairly relaxed knowing that the shooter next to me had to jump through all the same hoops in order to be there, so that's some comfort. I'm still mindful though. |
