M4 GTS - $134K? Must come from the solid gold steering wheel they'll put in ...

I'm not sure the doubling in price is worth it for the extra 60 ponies and 100Kg shedding of weight.

It's great to see that BMW will be racing with a new platform this upcoming IMSA season. Looks tres hot.

Agreed, not feeling the new M3/M4 unfortunately, so the GTS is even less interesting, plus nobody will really get one, production is extremely low (less than a 1000, if not 500). It's just for marketing purposes....

While the turbo engine does need some time to get accustomed to, the F8X is quite the track beast. Far superior to the E9X. I am already in the low 1:52 at LCMT with 1:51 within easy reach as I get used to the car. Not too shabby for a practically stock car.

The GTS should be amazing on a track. I just find it quite expensive and rather unpractical for the DD. Duncan in Toronto is getting one, looking forward to seeing it IRL.

That flat plane V8 sure is sweet. I so wish BMW would have put such an engine in the F8X chassis .

Here is one comparison test that I think you would like:

Yes, no doubt the M is a very potent track beast 1:51 is seriously fast. But for me personally, it kinda does not stir the soul. Not looking for the fastest car out there, just one that would put a smile on the face, everytime I drive it.

Joel,

Since you have a long wait for the 350R, keep an ear for the next Camaro Z28. It will be couple hundred lbs lighter and will surely perfotm better than the 350R.

But the sound of the 350R is so intoxicating.... good dilemma.

That is mighty quick for the stock M4. You got to love torque. I'm sure 1:50 is not too far around the corner.

Canada has very few GT350Rs allocated and dealers are willing to fulfill orders for the highest payer. This is fun

It is amazing how it pulls you out of corners. I kept the same 275 square setup I had on my E92, but I just don't have enough grip to fully leverage the potential of the engine. I'll be trying out 305 on 11" wheels next season, I am looking forward to see how it goes.

But I have to admit, I do miss the scream and feel of the NA V8.

When do you think you'll get your GT350? Is it an R?

EDIT: Just saw your previous post. I wish you best of luck in getting one for a decent price then. I am already .

A good dilemma indeed. My better half is more realistic and sensible. Lise is still looking at 2 series. Will we get an M2 here?

The M is definitely going to be the better daily driver that is for sure with the 350R the better track car. I put a deposit on the 350R a few months back. Production has stopped for the winter and no orders are going into the system (I personally find that hard to believe - who says no in sales). So I will just have to wait it out. No ETA of any kind.

Can you stuff 305 under the fender without rolling them? Boy that will be bad ass beautiful. That will get you your 1:50.

They were even able to stuff a 315 in there. Apex did quite a lot of research to build the perfect track wheel for the F8X.

I didnt realize that the Z28 was on the way out. Good food for thought. Maybe they will design some style into the next gen Z28. Hey thanks for the video comparo. That was fun.

With my current track woes I starting to look for a new ride. I wasnt feeling the C7 or the Z28 nor the M3/4. I happened to be servicing my F150 when I got back from Watkins Glen when I bumped into my sales rep who introduced me to someone from their head office who was doing some training on the new GT and Shelby's. We all got to talking. It didnt take long for me to make a choice. I had a chance to test drive the GT. Pretty nice unto itself even if not the Shelby. But why settle though ... right?

Absolutely Joel, Yay for the 350R, upcoming Z28 and GT4. Let's hope one of these make it in your/my garage in the near future.....
