Yes you can! That is one of the reasons I am not too worried about my incoming 5D3 versus the 7D. Yeah the aps-c has more reach but the file quality of the new one I think will mostly make up for that (and of course, I still have a 1DIV which is getting a tune up at CPS Irvine right now if I really need the reach).

This is cropped from my 7D, but as usual I had to clean up a ton of noise from the sky, something I never seem to have to do with any of my other canon bodies.

I stopped using my 7D for birds for the same reason. Too much noise in the sky. My 6D crops still look better than my 7D full shots.
