As already said, if you're doing short journeys and/or town driving you're not going to get great figures, and diesels are actually thirstier than petrols until they warm up so that won't help either. 23 in your petrol six or 20% more in a diesel four banger? Is it even a choice? Make sure you take it past 6500rpm next time you leave town

My 2010 3251 M-Sport Auto - 27.1mpg, 15 miles to work and small runs only. Have seen 34ish on a longer run.
The wifes 2006 318d manual - 45.6mpg 3 miles to drop the boy off at school and go shopping. (high 50's on a run and 60 is possible if your a saint) |

Had my E93 325 auto for a few months now. My economy seems to vary between 400 miles to a tank and 180 miles to a tank depending on driving conditions. 180 miles to a tank is equivalent driving conditions to my E46 325Ci (manual) which gave me 220 miles to a tank...

-10 325dMt here, and the fueleconomy is so good that I have not bothered to calculate from l/100km's to mpg...
Mixed city and active driving around the city it would do about 7-7,5 liters pr 100 kms, but for longer trips, like Oslo-Northwest it would do 4,5-ish... |

9 miles to and from work (usually start stop traffic) - ~30-38mpg Longer runs I tend to get between 40 (spirited) and 45. On a 110 mile trip yesterday I got 53.3mpg. |

8 miles to work, then back. I don't really do city or extra urban, mainly country roads. 20+ mile trips at the weekend. Averaging 26.4 over the last 650 miles. |

Non rush hour town driving: 35MPG avg 3 miles 30mph, stopping only for traffic lights and light traffic. Motorway Drive boring: 70 mph: 48 mpg 40 miles motorway mostly flat with some uphill section. 5 miles of town driving. Motorway driving, errr, others : 43mpg Same as above but with, lets say a heavier foot on motorway. All averaged not single trips. |

I just got back from a run from Bolton to St. Ives, approx 750 miles. a steady 70/80 on the mway and the A30 both ways (and the occasional blast) gave me a 31.3 mpg Im more than happy with that! |

Only had it a week but.. If I can restrain myself and sit at a constant 70mph on the motorway using the cruise, I can get 37+ On normal bobbing about it gets down to about 25-27. For the performance I think it's nothing short of amazing. WM |

End of term report.
3 years, one owner. 75,000 miles. Long term average COMBINED is 60.1 MPG Worst was 32 (B road blasting) Best was 78 (slipstreaming a truck for 120 miles) Normal 68mph motorway runs of over 2 hours return >63 MPG Fantastically cheap motoring, but dull as hell.

e92 335i n54, it does 35 mpg very easy on the motorway, thats averaging 80 mph and not being particularly careful, i have had it averaging 40 on a few particularly boring eco motorway runs.
Knocking about it soon drops under 30 but i still think its amazing all things considered. |
