I tried to do this with HDD Raw Copy, on a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128Gb 160MB/s UDMA7 (black) CF card, in the Syba CF caddy.
No joy, Nav won't start "Function not available". Is it my CF card that causes the problem? |

.Boot folder from hdcddb missing
I have a similar problem to some where I've followed the instructions but navigation and media are unavailable.
After mounting partitions on the Syba /CF in QNX I've found the .boot folder to be missing from the CDDB folder. CIC detects the Syba / CF but after trying to load for a while it just gives up, greys out navigation and media is left in a permanent state of limbo searching for files. I have tried using sudo DD command in ubuntu and also HDD RAW program in Windows 11 to make an image of the original drive which has been put on the Syba / CF to no avail. I'm going to try clonezilla and see if anything changes. thanks for all the help everyone. UPDATE: I'm a tard and the .boot folders were hidden in QNX file manager. MD5 of clonezilla, linux DD & HDD RAW all have the same MD5 so that's good I guess. I have a feeling the poor quality of the SYBA adapter is at fault here. The pins are too short, the pcb is wonky & the CIC HDD cover wont go all the way in easily when installed etc. Will update when the new one arrives from china. So what's the verdict - if I don't use CIC navigation and don't store music on its hard drive, does swapping the original HDD with an SSD result in some notable improvements like a lot quicker and more responsive iDrive?

I have a strange issue with my SSD clone. I successfully cloned the HDD to SSD with no issues, but the new drive's partitions are not automatically mounting when the CIC restarts. I was able to telnet in to the CIC via an e-net cable and can manually mount the 5 partitions, and then NAV and other functions work as expected. What could be blocking the automount?

IDE to SATA interface
Hi everyone,
I don't know how often this tread is visited, but I have a new method of adding an SSD into the CIC. No more messy expensive compact flash cards. I have designed and developed an interface board that replaces the internal CIC IDE board which is plug and play. My interface allows a standard SATA drive to directly replace the internal IDE drive. Some disassembly will obviously be required. Basically:
All being well, I should have a fully working board in the next few weeks as time permits. |

IDE to SATA interface
So, I may have been a little hasty to announce an IDE to SATA converter board.
The board I have produced does work, but not entirely as designed. The CIC does recognise the presence of and tries to read a SATA drive, the activity light I built into my board shows this, but the CIC rejects the drive. I have tested my CIC IDE image and there are no problems there. I have the same image working on a CF card with the same dual CF adapter listed in this forum by Jagaer. So, sadly it's a no goer. I may still be able to produce something that will do the job, but that's development for you. You can find 100 ways not to do something you just need to find the one way to make it work. |
