Still cheaper than a BBK anyway.
Wait.... What? $630 for the pads?? Is that just the brake pads?

Yeah, sucks right? Pagid endurance pads ain't cheap but then Carbotech pads were over four hundred a set.

I didn't even know they made pads that are that expensive lol I think if I decide to go this route I'll be using oem or not at all what you chose.

That's pretty cool though you were able to get the rear calipers to fit on considering everything. I look forward to your next project!

They're endurance racing pads so the price isn't terribly out of line. They'll work ok on the street since their coefficient of friction is pretty much constant from 100C up although I've only read anecdotal references to their cold bite capability.

Since this is a streetable track car I can't use the OEM pads and definitely wouldn't recommend this brake mod for use only on the street.

Forgot to say the calipers bolt up with no modification. The e46 M3 CSL rotors bolt up as well. But the calipers need a 5mm spacer to get centered over the rotor. The parking brake is the big problem. Solved by contouring and then welding e46 M3 shoes on top of the stock shoes with the friction material removed.

Next project is to finish out the cage, gut the front of the cabin, gut the wiring harness and unused modules including the radio, and get the engine rebuilt as a race engine while gutting the engine compartment for weight savings. Should still be street legal.

Update - ATI informs me the test fit plug is supposed to be ready Monday morning. But since the car's going to be in the cage shop through the end of next week I've told them to go ahead and ship it to the guy having a Super Damper designed for his N54. Once it comes back we can test fit it, determine what has to move where, and give the ok to make the damper. No idea how long it'll take but it'll be worth it.

Also requested a quote to fab a thinwall 304SS exhaust from the PE merge back with a 17" glass packed Coast Fabrication muffler on v-band clamps for ease of repacking yearly. Also adding another Y and polished tips to duplicate the PE tips. Will get this done before it leaves the shop but no dynos until the diff gets broken in, which takes 2000 miles.

looks like Turner doesn't have the rear RS29 pads anymore, at least the invoice p/n doesn't go to the right part. Part number on the invoice is U8085/RS29.

The only reason I'm using the Pagid pads is that the preferred Carbotech pads can't be used with RB rotors.
Okay cool thanks man.

Thanks! I was just surprised they were able to get it off the rack, it's been on the rack since September. Honest. It's been at the shop since last June.

Shockingly the ATI test fit plug actually shipped this morning. Not bad for a near two year wait...

for the damper right? cool.

I haven't touched my N52 on the stand in a while, but I am working on it. I picked up a leakdown test kit and I almost have enough cash to get my oil pan fabbed.. also, I have a sonic vibro parts cleaner that I want to use on the head, maybe instead of buying a new head (I tested it on some parts, it works unbelievably well). Maybe I could pick up one of those dampers when they're available.

Yes! Finally, right? You have an ultrasonic cleaner that big? Cool. You could run solid mounts with one of these damper, definitely makes for no driveline windup.

no, not big enough for the whole head - I'll have to drop that off somewhere. But I can get all of the small parts cleaner than new. I already did the vanos screens - they came out amazing.

I could run solid mounts for sure. it's not DD either so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. From what I understand it's not so harsh on the engine, but solid mounts on the transmission is much more NVH.

Well it'll be interesting to compare notes as I've not felt it to be intrusive with a fully solid driveline but then gear rattle at idle and diff whine during decel doesn't bother me, so ymmv I'd bet.

yeah - I ran a solid diff bushing in the E30 once, I withstood it for about 2 weeks before I bought an M-coupe diff cover and swapped it out.. too much for me.

Occurs to me now that the rear of the cabin has been stripped to the metal the gear whine is going to be substantially increased. I knew that but didn't, knowhutimean?

Sorry, the tech sold it for me. The black cards and console cover came from part of the old interior it replaced although they swapped over the trim. Still looks like new but not like it matters really.
