Yes mine is on Dynojet about 150km after the flash to Evolve
Yes they are local in the city, as far as I know they run race ECU's on their n52 so I asume Valvatronic is disabled and so on. Maybe there is little relevance to a stock ECU/DME tuned world

The stock DME can't operate without Valvetronic and Vanos so these functions have to remain intact. So race versions of an N52 don't translate to the street, mostly. And without Valvetronic the ECU has to deal with mechanically operated ITB(s) and the MAF takes a hike as well. EGR and PCV go away, replaced with simple breathers. Race engines really don't have much in common with even a dual duty track/street car. Race cars even use electric power steering pumps to offload the engine even more. An Accusump is pretty much mandatory as well if not using a dry sump oil system. It's really amazing to watch a race car get put together, the details are mind numbing.

you actually can lock Vanos with the stock DME (although I don't know why you would want to). you can't do anything with valvetronic though.
it should be reiterated that the DME isn't the issue here.. it can be set up to work with different cams. the real problem is with the information given, there's no real way to know if anything that could be input into the DME is accurate, or if the cams are messed up to begin with. |

Agreed the cams are too messed up to bother attempting to "fix" with DME changes.

FWIW, the car goes into the shop Tuesday to have stock cams reinstalled so it can be put back in service. Full circle. Gonna get the caster set to maximum this time around and the OBDII connector replaced since I broke the damn thing a while back, new air filter and I dunno what all else.
Haven't scheduled the rest of the work yet although all the parts but the CF roof are in. Ended up scheduling the diff cooler, fuel pressure and EGT gauges, Ultra Racing subframe braces and strut tower crossbar to get those items out of the way.

No way to adjust cam timing yet and there's no tune accommodating the offset in the Vanos maps. I just need to get it back on the road, been sitting in the garage as I don't want to run the risk of burning valves since the actual cam data was double sooper sekret... ![]()

It'll be a while. It was going in the shop Tuesday for new cams, etc. but I decided to add the diff cooler (Stack oil temp gauge controls pump and fan), EGT thermocouple to the header at the leanest cylinder, and fuel pressure sensor to the fuel rail so the Stack gauge cluster can be made functional. Getting the UltraRacing subframe braces and strut tower crossbar (requires machining the M3 brace parts) out of the way at the same time. So this moves the date to the 22nd.
The Aero pkg, CF hood and trunklid, radiator, oil cooler/Accusump, and other stuff will be scheduled some time in July. Maybe we'll have figured out how to retard the cams and have a functional tune to with them. If so and if it all generates extra bottom end torque and lifts the falling torque curve at the top end then it'll go back in for a custom race exhaust.

Could be, look fine to me. The shop uses them on their cars, figured I'd give 'em a shot since I can't run a six point on the street.
https://www.facebook.com/classicBMWmotorsports First place is their usual place to be. If the braces don't work out and Chase can't improve them then they're scrap too, no big loss. Thanks very much for the heads up though, much appreciated.

There are a number of them on two of the racecars and I was there shortly after they were installed on the new EP car, fit right the first time, no issues at all. All are multipoint types including the strut tower brace that triangulates to the firewall. No match drilling required.

Forgot to mention I didn't buy these off ebay but through NexGen Tuning in FL, I think.

that could be it. I know a lot of retailers have way higher QC than the manufacturer/ebay sellers. VMR I know sends a lot of wheels back to china that arent up to spec. That retailer might double check all the parts they get in

Yeah, Evan Carollo has been dealing with them for a long time. Haven't had the slightest problem. Good guy.

a lot of times what is on ebay are the rejected parts that they basically put on clearance because whoever they manufactured them for sent them back. I bought some S54 headers several years back for $60 shipped, guess how well those fit..

Schrick N52 cams
Found these online - N52 cams from Schrick:
http://www.maxrpm.de/Schrick-camshaf...k-0476A1521-00 There are two versions each for both intake and exhaust. The versions differ by duration. I've read this thread end-to-end and think Pete mentioned these in the first post. He also said no info available online. Maybe these are new... I don't have the technical background to assess them for our app, nor fully understand mods required for the engine management to implement, but look forward to more informed input from the gang.

I'm 99% certain it's a typo and those are for an N54. The advertised durations are less than stock N52 cams (250/255*).
also, they still aren't in Schrick's catalogue, they were only mentioned once in a news post. I'd love to be wrong. Does anyone know a Schrick dealer? |
