I have this "soup" the wife made. She started with one of the ham bones from Thanksgiving, put it in the crockpot, and magic appeared last night for dinner. A bowl, bottom layer of rice, then this magical concoction on top. I think I saw some spinach and cilantro and various kinds of beans in there.

As it turns out, their youngest son, who i used provide flooring to before they closed, lives around the corner from me and had a propensity for smoking meat. He's got a steady place like 1 mile from my house and a couple more spots where he trailers smokers to. But it's the best pulled pork and pulled chicken i've ever had and i try BBQ in every city i travel to. Other places have better ribs, sausage, etc... but pulled pork and chicken. Haven't found anything better. He's really cool, you can bring him any cut of meat you want and he'll smoke it up for you. He said they smoked 67 turkeys for people this past Thanksgiving. I don't like seafood too much but his smoked salmon is fantastic as well.

My wife says I need to put on some weight, so last night I barbecued two chicken breasts and two drumsticks marinated in a lemon, pepper and olive oil marinade. Nothing as fancy as Beetroot Risotto, but tasty none the less. Paired it with white mushrooms in a butter cream sauce.
