I got a chance to travel much of the region in early-mid '91 and then in '95-98. We were always herded and kept in our compounds or allowed out and about with designated gov't handlers during that time - for our safety, of course .
Lol of course. It’s always for YOUR safety It’s very different now, even in the stalwarts like Saudi. Much more open, and no movement restrictions anymore. Not much to do or see though, so that’s about similar to back then.

LOL. We drank mostly, behaved badly in our compounds, horrified (well probably not) the poor locals that were on site with us and basically were bored out of our minds. On the up side, the capital punishment, stoning, hand severing or beheading outings did break up the monotony somewhat .

Traveling for my employer is all but reserved for product sales folk. I haven't been to the office in over 8 years.

Howdie. All groovy here. Wow. Still have the E90 ... How is it holding up? Did you ever have to do any work on the turbos, wastegate, intercooler?

I'm still in my M240 lightly modified. A fun little pocket rocket.

Held up really well and everything is tight, no work needed on any of these parts!
Only parts cHanged were valve cover gasket (while under warranty), fuel pump under warranty and recently thermostat. That’s it.

M240 is fun quick car. Is it an xi?

That's cool, you're still in the same car!! Then again, I still have my R56 that I keep modding and tweaking, hah. And even though I'm abroad at the moment, I can't bring myself to sell the car. How many kms on your E90 now?

That is pretty reliable. The N54 turned out to be not too bad of an engine. And you tracked it quite a bit to boot.

When I bought the 240, it was on its way out. To be replaced by a 4 door 4 banger. It only came in auto and XI. Since I was stuck with the XI I also opted for the electronic damping system as well. Not the greatest. It needs a track setting to tighten this f'er up. But it is what it is.

Nice to see that they decided not to kill off the 240 just yet and brought it back this year with an added 50HP or so for 380hp. What I like is with a good ECU flash it will make close to 500hp.

95k kms on the 335! We had one m240 xi lent to us for spring fever, great power but very heavy (may be heavier than my 335, and uncommunicative. Heavier than previous iteration probably!
So, good city car, could have been more fun on track!

I have to agree. Too much power for how the car is setup. Steering is my biggest beef and I'm not too keen on the EDS suspension. My brakes also suck. The tune amplifies the problem. But as a daily driver ... its great. Fast, nimble, easy on the looks, and reasonable gas mileage. Did I mention that it has the worst audio system BMW has ever offered ...

thought i'd come by to say hi.. hope everyone's doing well

i've continued navigating the benz world from an e53 amg coupe to a gle63s suv and finally just picked up an eqs suv around 2 weeks ago

it's a more grown up car but it's super comfortable and driving electric has been nice (going from a 4l v8 gas bill to an electric is nice)

getting married this saturday, funny how i used to hang out here when i was still in high school, times goes by, hope y'all are good.

Haha man congrats!!! Good to hear at least SOME of us are growing up

I’m still wrenching on derelict cars. The X5M is gone, replaced by a JCW Mini and a desert Land Cruiser … because why the hell not. lol. Except I’ve left the desert (but the Land Cruiser followed). I don’t know why I make the dumb choices I do … but I guess better cars than gambling, right? Then again… at least you win SOMETIMES while gambling.

Guys, a question. I have my Japanese weird van parked at a friend's condo on St-Jean. Since I'm away for a while as usual, I'm looking for someone to drive it for a little bit every few months or so, put some gas, that sort of thing. Would any of you happen to be bored and willing to do it? Not for free, of course, although you get to enjoy driving a moderately powered right-hand-drive van that nobody's ever seen! Need it driven this coming Tuesday because they're cleaning the garage... and after the winter sometime, and so on. PM me if yes! (or if you still have my Whatsapp/Montreal #, it hasn't changed).
