Well MKSixer, I took your advice and bought a custom suit today. That was a whole process in itself. Going back for shirts later.

I've got one custom suit. It's 3-4 years old, but it's still my favorite. Fits like nothing else.

Speaking of suits...what's a good brand to get? I have a few purchased long ago from Mens Wearhouse as a Hugo Boss from Bloomingdales that I really like. Nordstrom is having the anniversary sale I'm thinking of picking up another suit - Z Zegna, Hugo Boss, Canali and have it tailored, Or get a customized one?

If you have a Nordstrom card, you might have some alteration credits. You can use them on getting suits tailored. Zegna or Armani is my go to.

You know you can get custom suits made cheap in Vietnam, right?

I have 5 full suits from Bonobos

Highly recommend Bonobos. Excellent fit (athletic, slim fit; tapers around the waist, shoulders are broad, forearms are wide to create an athletic/bodybuilding look). Quality of their suits is fantastic, however, shirt quality stinks. Oh, and free one year returns/exchanges. PERFECT if you're bulking like me, and constantly changing size. Just take it into a store and exchange.

Yes. And most of them are shitty. I threw away about 20 of them that relatives got for me over the years based on god knows measurements that were given to them.

Well then buy a Boss suit, get it altered and then bring it with you next time you go to Vietnam and get them to copy it in a different color.

Which reminds me, an Italian man tried selling me a $20,000 suit today, along with a $2,800 belt, and $750 dollar shirt.

I left with the free bottle of water.

True. Although the free alteration they give you is subpar. The HB suit I got a few years back was taken apart, cut, and tailored to my exact fit. That's why I really like it. If I get a suit I will take them to a good tailor and pay for it.

Hugo Boss is good stuff and nothing beats Nordstrom service. Armani suits have great stitching and fabrics. Really sharp look, and hold up to abuse. Canali is nice, but for the money I'd go Armani. Burberry suits are also nice, but I have yet to see them go one sale.

My thinking exactly! Silk doesn't taste that great.

I'm really excited to get it in. This is my first custom suit. I found a fabric that I had to have so I bit the bullet. I actually bought three suits total. One was custom and two were off the rack. The two off the rack fit surprisingly well. Only minimal adjustments had to be made. I was pretty happy with that. Picked up a sports coat and a couple pairs of slacks while I was at it. Pretty successful day. Lol

Canali, Zenga, Brioni, etc. I've never had a Hugo Boss suit but I love how their shirts fit. I would explore a Hugo Boss option if I ran across one. My first post college suit was a Joseph Abboud. That turned out to be a great suit for me. Still is, actually. It just doesn't fit me the way it did back then.
