I tried to refresh it back to the factory setting (blank MAN file and replace the modified CIC.CIA with the orginal one). And I still not able to watch video. It has the pop up "handbrake is not on" but it is not playing DVD....

Does it mean I got a faulty DVD player or software?

And when I did the car when edit profile under NCS. typed in the password, it has some green images, 6 are green and 1 is grey (ZCSUT).

Do you know why ZCSUT is not green? Anyone had the same issue?

If you are having trouble setting up your Manipulate profile are you sure you did the VIM properly?

In NCSExpert:

File > Load profile > Expertmode > OK
File > edit profile (Password is 'repxet')
Select 'car-keymemory' (check all 3 boxes) > OK
Select 'Consistency Check' (should say 'OK') > OK

Instead of it say 'OK' it gives me error "ind-eer-03"

I didn't create anything new , I just made it easier for the rest of members ,, all the credits goes to the people who've created this process ..
  1. See what CIC.XX you have.
  2. Back-up Your CIC.XX File
  3. Replace CIC.XX File with same name in Attached file. If it's not in the .rar file just tell us I'm sure one of us who has time can just send a modified CIC.XX to you.
  4. NCSExpert Expert Profile - Read ECU - CIC
  5. NCSExpert Change Job - SG_Codieren (should be default)
  6. NCSExpert Expert Profile - Process ECU - CIC

I checked the attached and I guess it's missing a few. Like my friend has CIC.C08 and I don't see in there. I have combox, so I'm at CIC.C16...

I don't know if any of you guys have modified an XBOX 360 game save before.**

It is the exact same thing..the "FF" is arbitrary but it's just the most common value people put in. Once people actually know what to values mean, they'll use a base calculator/etc to determine the actual values.

As usual...props to the person who recognized the pattern and paved the way. The rest of us are just zombies who can follow directions

I know but I think it's interesting. I think it will be the same for modifying our daten files.

I know BMW Retrofit already has nice, fancy GUIs for a lot of their operations.

If I learn anymore from testing on my end I'll update though.
I seem to be stuck in version hell after my car was coded at the dealer during the PPK install. I upgraded tools to 2.4 and pulled the E89 v.43 daten which allows me to get to the CIC module but I get the BEST version error when trying to access the MEDIA and NFRM modules (which I was able to do with the older 2.1 tools and V.42 daten). Do I need to keep around two complete different sets of tools and daten now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As I said above, keep the newer files in the daten and SGDat folder, just switch back to the original ECU folder. I'm not sure what these 2.4 and 2.1 tools you're referring to are, but you should be able to use NCS with V43 daten and the original ECU folder in EDIABAS to get to NFRM.

I tried that. By original ECU folder, do you mean the one that comes with the RAR package and has not been updated with the V42 daten?

At the moment I have two sets of the three folders (NCS, INPA, & EDIBAS). One is the original set that comes with the RAR file and updated with V.42 daten (ECU, DATEN, SGDAT), and the other is the latest tool set (EDIBAS 7.2) with the V43 daten.

Before the update, I was able to code any module using the first set (V42).

Use the original EDIABAS folder with the original ECU folder from the RAR and then merge the V43 daten and SGDat folders into the appropriate locations in your NCS folder.

srwatters........I run into the same thing when I was trying to access CIC and hphughan guided me on what to do.

I had the .rar file download from this post and installed as per the DIY and the rar included EDIBIAS, NCSEXPER, INPA. Ofcourse I could access CIC so I searched and downloaded E89 Daten V43.rar....This included I believe 4 folders ECU, Daten, sgdat and cfgdat.

I referred to E89 coz I have a e92; 09 335ix bmw. So you need to find what is applicable for your

Anyway as per hphughan I copied Daten and pasted in the E89 folder in the Daten folder in the NCSEXPER and I did the same for the sgdat. I ignored the cfgdat.

Now the ECU folder in the Edibias that is already there I renamed to ECU-ORIG and then I copied the ECU folder from the E89 Daten V43 and pasted it in the Edibias folder. And I was able to access CIC.

If I wanted to access NFRM module then I will rename ECU that I used to access the CIC module to ECU-V43 and then rename ECU-ORIG to ECU....So i keep swapping as deemed necessary and depending on what I am working on.

I downloaded few days ago EDIBIAS version 7.2 but I didnt try it. If it works then I am hoping I will not need to do the swapping anymore.....

Then for my next program the VIM ....Lets see if I can make that sucker work based on the current instructions

When you guys are updating daten and sgdat folders, are you replacing ALL files or just updating the newer files using Total Commander or another tool like it?

I have a 2007 335. V42 works for me.

Dont forget to keep an original copy of your ecu folder so you can access all the modules. I know the NFRM module needs the old ecu folder to work. Not sure of any others.

Open the new SGDAT folder, select all, copy.

Open the old SGDAT folder, paste items, you will be asked if you want to replace old files with the same names (or some prompt like that), select "yes to all"

Do the same with the daten files. You only need to update the e89 folder if that is your chassis.

You can use xcopy to update files that are only newer.. something like this:

c:\extracted_files\>xcopy ediabas c:\ediabas /D

(I'm doing this from memory, but the /D is correct. It only copies the source if its newer than the destination.)

So strange. Seems that I'm the only one that has a fully functioning (v41 e89 at least) version that works with every module.
