Just pick up a later build Trans. I did for $850 and its being built by 517trans. I will have it back in the next few weeks to insure that there are no issues with post 03/07 Trans in an early build car. If all goes well $850 for a Trans is not bad at all

I might be interested in doing the same based on your review, and after getting Vargas Stage 2 in my car.

Build Year: 01/09
Paddles: Yes ECU: MSD80/81, not sure Code: Yes, 511B. No others Noises: None in any mode or any shift points (Limited mileage) Just giving an update, received my cord today and flashed the Alpina software in about 15 minutes and I've never used WinKFP before this. Install went flawless, used INPA to check EGS version prior to install and post, it had changed to the Alpina software. I did lose function of my paddle shifters and am still reading up on the proper way to work with NCS. When I looked at my TRC file for Paddles, it showed Wert02 and not 01 like in the screenshot, oh well, I'll read more about it. I drove about 5 miles so far. I LOVE D, my wife will actually be able to drive the car now, she always hated how it revved to a point where she felt like it was too much torque before it would shift when using D, now with these low rpm shifts, its pleasant to drive. I told her this but obviously her excitement didn't match mine, lol. Only thing I question is why it goes into D1 and doesn't start out in D2, is it because of the low rpm shifts, I don't know? I didn't have a chance to test DS much, just using the stick to shift up and down. Thing I noticed is how drastically different downshifts are, they're ridiculously smooth compared to before. I'll give more of an update after I get a few more miles on the car. Thanks again guys for all your help on here, I'm going to donate here once I wrap up getting these paddles coded. |

I haven't seen anything in this thread (or elsewhere) that explains where this new software comes from. Am I correct in thinking it was developed by Alpina, was then copied, and is now being distributed for free?
Are we basically ripping off intellectual property here? Just curious...

It's ALWAYS been distributed with the spdaten files. We just didn't know know it was there. I suspect this was what level 10 was flashing into the egs when they have the entire car while doing a tranny build. Again, I only speculate this.

I saw was the build date is a quick give away if it's compatible or not. What do you suggest I do? Change the tcu? Or update it? Provide something helpful and relevant because I'm still confused Last edited by HTran; 02-28-2013 at 07:43 PM.. |

Your transmission is the issue. Unless you switched out your entire transmission, at this time, no one has a solution for you.

Got my flash done earlier by Grant (CasperSYTFU) and all I have to say is "WOW!"
It is completely night and day with how the car/transmission shifts and reacts. I feel like it's a whole new car again. I can't wait to through my tune back in and get E85 in and do some pulls. No more inconsistencies and smooth shifts throughout the gears (both up and down). I definitely recommend this for any 6AT N54. This is worth it and will definitely put a big grin on your face! For those who are wondering my car is a 2008 E90 335i with a Sept 2007 build.

if people would just instead of asking the same questions over and over again.
If you are interested in this read and research, all info have been already posted here and other forums. If you still dont understand get someone to flash it for you to avoid getting an unusable transmission.

Hmm, after driving for over 100 miles, I'm still getting the super hard downshift from M2>M1 or S2 to S1 when I come to a stop. It almost feels like the car locks up for a moment and then moves.
Would that be a transmission issue? It feels really abrupt. |

I am having decision making problems ... upgraded AT with flash or retro fitted DCT to my car ....
Looks very tempting as a solution while I save up for DCT with upgraded hardware. My question is just this , for all the coders in the US , is it not possible for you guys to assist us far away with the TCU flash, thru remote desktop?

Or what you can do is download all the necessary files and whoever remotes in can install those and then flash your AT. So it is possible, but just whether or not you can find someone that is willing to help you with that. |
