It's the equivalent of stating that a 335 w/ no muffler and an M badge is vastly to superior to those that are stock...laughable, at best.
I'm hoping this eases your worries...

So you replaced a poorly configured/defective camera with one that actually works as intended?

Congrats!

Not sure what you’re so frustrated about, chief. Maybe go for a walk around the block and get some fresh air.

What do you guys think of this: https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-s...WF2080B-62-1-p

I need it for a cabin. I don't want to spend money on a subscription. I don't want to hard wire anything, I'll just change the batteries 2x a year.

Only thing is I don't think it will send alerts to the app on my phone, I could be wrong.

This is much more of a want than a need. If it was a need I would just buy a home security system like I have at home.

Well unless something has changed. Blink cameras don't require a subscription, are wireless, batteries claim to last 2 years, mine are already going on 1 year and will alert your phone if they sense motion.

I forgot all about Blink.

Just picked up 2 for the lake house a few weeks ago. Work great. Thank you again for your recommendation/reminder.

With floodlight combo install is super easy and no need to buy floodlights for house separately

Did you give the Eufy cameras a try? I like the thought of this system using its own storage rather than a cloud subscription service. It looks like Eufy also allows RTSP to record the video to NAS systems as well, which would be useful.

I'll chime in on the Ring system since we have 6 devices installed, including the Ring doorbell, Floodlight Cam, and wireless indoor Stick Up cams.

The Ring interface is nice, as is the tie-in with the neighborhood watch program. But I have one gripe, and I would caution you to research it: when you get an alert for motion, or the doorbell rings, it takes a long time to "activate" the camera into a live view. So by the time you get the live stream going, the person or thing that set off the event is long gone from view. This is a unique issue - and does not apply to capturing motion recordings. I'll explain.

The system does an excellent job of capturing motion and sending HD recordings of that event to the cloud, where you can later retrieve that recording for viewing, so it's not like the camera takes too long to begin recording - it's only when you want to instantly go live to a particular camera that is delayed and frustrating.

For other reasons, I recently upgraded my home WiFi to the Orbi mesh network (using 3 satellites), but I had the Ring system in place using my old Linksys unit. Same issue in both scenarios. My signal strength on all cameras, indoor and out as measured by the Ring app is very good...it seems to be a common and persistent issue among many Ring users regardless of signal strength. I've tried viewing over my WiFi as well as cellular networks, and also downloaded and tried the "Ring Lite" app.

The app receives frequent updates and tech support is generally really good too. YMMV....

I bought Eufy but I haven't installed yet. Will start house renovation on 16th and will have them installed by 25th

cut the cord, now looking at out door security systems. all these systems have their pros/cons but where they all get you is in their subscription costs.

some are are inclusive meaning no limits on cameras connected while others charge per camera which can add up quickly depending how many your using.

sharing info on the 4 solutions i narrowed it down to below.

There’s a whole thread on this. Let me save you some time and research though. It boils down to:

1. Wired cameras are terrible with motion detection because it’s pixel detection, not motion. The most recommended one is Reolink.
2. Wireless cameras are not as great because it only records when there’s motion. If on battery you’ll change it every now and then. Eufy cams are really good and cost effective. Their batteries last a year on a single a charge.
3. Best way, IMO, is a combination of the two. Get a 5-6 cams wired Reolink set and combine it with Ring floodlights (if you already have Ring subscription it’s a good way to go, especially with refurbished units) or Eufy cams. If you really want to can even get a doorbell cam. Then you’ll have best of both worlds: 24/7 recording and motion and light motion detection. This is what I ended up with.

I went with a 2K resolution Reolink set with 5 cameras that record 24/7. I can check on it anytime I want. Then I have Ring floodlight for driveway and spotlights for the back along with non camera floodlights (already had them). Already have Ring alarm service so monitoring fee for those cameras are included. Also, lifetime warranty on cameras for as long as I have the service. All for $100 a year.

I think your first point is overly generalized, plus it wouldn't depend on whether your camera is wired or wireless. I don't rely on the camera itself, but rather the 3rd party software that analyzes the video feed to make out not only movement, but whether that movement is a leaf (not relevant) vs. a human being (relevant), a car (relevant), etc. All my cameras are hardwired for both power and data and my object detection is excellent.

Also note not that wireless/wired can mean different things. For me, wired means power and data via category cable or AC power. Wireless means power via category cable or AC, but data via WiFi. When you say wireless, you mean power via battery and data via WiFi.

Way too many false alerts with wired. They sense any changes to pixels so even shades would cause alerts.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

This is the equivalent of saying "don't buy a BMW...every time I drive mine, there's a gauge on the dashboard that gets closer and closer to the letter E"

This 100% absolutely false. You are saying that the world’s most sophisticated video monitoring solutions, which are all hard wired, all incorrectly detect motion and do nothing but cause false alerts? Someone call the Pentagon and sell them a Nest or Arlo solution!

Again: wired or wireless has absolutely nothing to do with false alerts.

Arlo Ultra is IP65-certified just like prior models, but the Pro2s are cheaper and plenty good. 5 Cameras with rolling 7 day recordings are free and base can do USB storage. I haven't paid a dollar for a subscription in the several years of owning them. Ultra's had a bunch of bugs when they launched, just FYI.

All the reviews I watched said that. I'm not an expert so only went by what the testers said. Based on what I see, a spider web string dangling in front of the camera would cause the motion detection to turn on (a string is not human).
