Thanks Tony - i think i speak for everyone confirmed as going on this trip, that we ALL genuinely appreciate all your time and effort organising both the trip and arranging for Jochen to photograph us - having met Jochen personally last year through yourself i can confirm he is a really nice chap and a fantastic photographer - i was delighted with the pics he took of my 335i - so on reflection the price is very fair and i know everyone will be more than happy with the results.
ps: i hope thats enough groveling to get me at last half way back into your good books!!
pps: i love you and if i were female i would consider having your babies!!!

Can't wait!
If it stays with all four rubber patches still in contact with the roadway when it stops it's performed as well.

Tony, you may have already covered this in the last sixteen pages but I have several questions:
  1. What is the medium for the final photographs?
  2. Will all of the photos be on CD/DVD?
  3. If on CD/DVD will they be separated where one car is all that's on the disc?
  4. What resolution will they be?
  5. When will they be ready?

I'm intending to do at least ten laps over the two and a half days I'm there. If Jochen is only there on one day then I'd have to consider more just to increase the odds of getting a really superb shot. I'm not afraid of helping stimulate the world economy...within reason.

If you are lucky to catch him at the local restaurant that night, you can select what you want, and pay him on the spot he will send it to your email (easiest way). Mine was 8MB a piece.

This won't be the case for us, as we are doing a dedicated booking, so pictures won't be selected at random on the evening.

For a group booking like ours, Jochen will need a bit more time to do the editing of photographs and things like that. It is therefore extremely unlikely he'll have the images ready by the same evening that he took them. Every night Jochen goes to the Pistenklause restaurant to show some pictures he's taken from that day - this is really designed for those who haven't done any pre-booking with him. Sometimes you can see your car up there, but it's very hit and miss and the pictures aren't normally tweaked or edited.
  1. The fact that we're doing a group booking guarantees a whole batch of top quality pictures
  2. The format will be on CD, in high-resolution JPEGs of between 6-8Mb in size normally
  3. Each car/client will have his/her own CD with only their car on it
  4. With luck, they should be ready within a day or two. Jochen can email the files also, but with a large number of files a CD is preferable
  5. Given that we are a group booking, Jochen will process our files first, so it may be that we could have the images next day
  6. Jochen will be taking pictures across the whole weekend, as some people may not want to go out on the Friday, or some on the Saturday afternoon etc etc. Because you will be liaising with Jochen directly, there won't be a situation that he 'misses' your car out on track

I think £25k is a lot for a Ford Focus, but if I wanted one I'd buy it.

The price is 75€. If people think it's expensive then don't put your name down.

There is no requirement to wear a helmet on a touristfahten dday so therefore any helmet will suffice, bud depends how much you value your head.

They'll be absolutely fine... I assume they're full-face helmets as they're designed for bike racing - you might get a bit hot in the car, but otherwise no problem.. Just make sure they fit well!

Just phoned my insurance and organised a green gard for the weekend (rather than my usual trick of doing it the morning I leave and it arriving at home the week after the trip). They also stiffed me £106 for adding my exhaust to the policy

So, other than a few Euros in my pocket, think I'm all set...

Only two and a half weeks to go

Out of interest Paul, what tyres are you running at the moment? Im considering replacing my stock PS2's before we go but im not sure what to go with. Im seriously considering going down the Vredestein route again as ive been so impressed with them before and they are such good value for money. Bit O/T but who cares!!!

I'm running a fairly new (~4,000 miles) set of PS2's. The problem you will find is getting a matching set in the M3 size. Most manufacturers will do a rear OR front pair, not both. When I looked at the end of Jan, I could only get Michelin PS2's or CUP+ in a full set. Problem is the rears are 35 profile and most other manufacturers have a 30 profile (what all the 335 boys run as they have squishy suspension).

I've tried all manor of different tyres over the years and so far always found the PS2's to be the best all round. I'd love to try CUP+'s though, just can't due to the mileage I do.

I never drive without insurance Carl...

Personally I don't think insurance should be discussed on a public forum....... PM's or email is best.
