Hallo Danny(you're from Hamburg aren't you)

The first time I hear this...

Well, the 335i E92 felt definitely a lot faster/more powerful than the 330i and it was even an autobox, so no worries for me

My first thought is,,,, Looks like this Shiv guy just shot us in the foot with our soon to be released M3 V-8. Basically matching the hp numbers with a simple piggy back.

Or, Hons... "we need to hire this guy to work for us"!

LOL

Looking forward to some tire smoking vids!

@ shiv...

Whats your take on the latest software update for the 335... some have said they were "robbed from hp/tq" after the update.

Have you done the update, if so, have you expirienced any difference?

Oh yeah, the Mugen CF intake is purely bling and as most Mugen products, overpriced (I have a Comptech intake on my S2000).

Part of the expensive price is due to where the product is made and availability. Anyways, back to topic.

Shiv - Do you have any plans for a dyno report for those who don't use an aftermarket exhaust system? Like another poster here, one of my reasons picking the 335i is I don't want it to be an aftermarket money pit like I have done with some of my previous cars. It provides plenty of power stock, but an aftermarket ecu add-on could be very tempting due to the bang for buck power.

I doubt you will lose a whole lot. It appears that Shiv only put a cat-back on the car and replaced the secondary cats, which probably did yield a good amount of power but power you will probably will not miss. The primary cats are still in place and are probably still a large restriction. This, couple with the fact that the car still has stock downpipes in it means there may be quite a bit of power left on the table. Its all conjecture at this point though...

Maybe, when downpipes come out you could put those on to get some solid gains while keeping the stock cat-back to keep the sound down?

To bring back from the dead, i would definately be interested in the launch control and WOT shifting. i actually had a http://www.racelogic.co.uk/?show=Traction_Control system on my old E36 M3 and it was bad ass. TIA

Emissions Test Results

To alleviate some emissions-related concerns, we paid a visit to a local smog shop this morning. They put our 335i on the rollers to conduct a pre-test (like a normal Smog test but without the official-ness). This was conducted with the Xede and exhaust (with secondary cat deletes). Here are the results:

dont care to mask your VIN # shiv? I would paint that out of your scan if i were you... that was fast, you already did it

Also,
Any word on the effects of the latest dealer software updates?

I want an Xede so bad... I love that i wont have to go to a shop and get "flashed" every time i need an update from the dealer... so cool.

A buddy of mine has a new GTI, and the dealer has reflashed his ECU twice now... and he has to pay the mod shop to flash it again...

Damn, that is really sweet. You guys have really managed to make this mod as transparent as possible. Emissions still pass and mileage is still close to stock.

This seems to back up the theory that BMW probably designed the 335i's engine to safely & cleanly put down about 370-380 crank hp but dialed it back for insurance purposes and to give the E92 M3 some breathing room.

Shiv,
Hows your tranny holding up? I have a manual on the way... I heard the reason there is no manual tranny in the 335 diesel is due to the torque. What are you toughts on how the tranny is holding up after almost 4K miles? Hows the clutch? Do you think we will need a larger one soon? Thanks for the info! The works looks great. I can't wait to get this mod. Hopefully it will be ready not long after I pickup the car (mid nov). Thanks again!

The tranny is just fine. I'm not sure why people are worrying about it. A RWD car putting down 350lb-ft of torque to the wheels isn't exactly pushing the envelope as far as transmission stress goes We're only make 25% more torque when all is said in done. Come on now.

You guys should drive some of our Evos and Subys. 550+hp with stock transmissions and AWD launches!

Wow, Thats insane! Heh this is my first BMW. Im used to big old school V8s/large transmissions. After seening some friends newer cars (isuzu, honda, etc) fall apart the new stuff keeps me worried.

Hopefully you will come across one of the "updated" cars - someone had his dynoed and got 260 at the RWs. Big difference from your/mags/etc dynos.

Based on what I have seen coming from shiv. I have no doubt that this is possible. I think shiv is currently working on a high performance but safe and reliable tune. Once everything is done with that I have a feeling we will see plenty of race maps come out of the Vishnu camp. Right now Im perfectly happy with 380bhp/400btq
