Surely it is not happening to ALL N54 owners, but it is an known issue that has been proven a fault that BMW has to correct in the design. It is still not saying that you will surely get this problem when you get a N54, but there is a possibility. To be fair, different issues for different brands/models.

For DCT, it is the later Double Clutch technology which is supposed to be more responsive on gear shifting, no matter you are in D (automatic) mode, S (sport) mode or M (+/-) mode. Also, DCT comes with 7 gears (newer DCT for 5GT and F10 got the 8th gear, i may be wrong on the car model though, bad memory for an old man like me), gas consumption is supposed to be better than the old 6 gear non DCT.

If you really care about the performance and responsiveness on the road, defintely DCT is something to target for. However, as you should already know, DCT is only available in E92/93 in the HK market, unless you really target one from parallel import.

另外，睇你講解完個DCT好似真係好正喎

08車都okay呀,我果架係08,由08到依家都冇咩大問題

I said the fuel available in US is not as good as HK. The cheapest fuel (not the illegal one) in HK is not bad at all and it is already good enough for our N54 engine.

I used to think DCT is the king, but then it is not as impressive as I thought. My car is 2008 6 speed Steptronics, and I'm happy with it. The only thing I find DCT is better than 6spd step is the shift knob. DCT shift knob, leather boot, and panel look better than the 6spd step.

It's damn loud but it comes with remotes to make the exhaust loud or quiet, the unit is equiped with EVC control which the sound and flow can be operated just like your window operation.
