If you look at the Navi screen in perspective mode, you will see clouds on the horizon. You'll notice (especially at a stop) that the clouds are actually moving evr so slightly.
One of those who really cares abot that things, but it shows attention to detail. BMW is so flippin cool!!

Not having read all posts here, I hope I’m not repeating something . . .
If you fold the mirrors when you park and then use a different fob, with different settings, to unlock the car the adjustments saved in the second fob are used. If you drive away without unfolding the mirrors they unfold at 25 kph with the adjustment settings of the fob that originally folded them. |

Anyway, my understanding is that, this lesser cruise control system (the one that does not include the braking feature) included with four-cylinder cars also does not resume cruise speed when you change gears in manual transmission equipped car. That is to say - it will shut off the cruise (immediately) when you take the car out of gear. Now - does anyone know if I can somehow downgrade my car to this type of cruise system? Is it just software, I mean? I don't need the auto braking (i perfer to let the car coast over the set cruise speed if gravity is making it do so), and as for the auto resume on gear change - its downright dangerous for me. Reason is, its the exact opposite of how my M3 operates (and most every cruise equipped car I've ever driven). So, being used to my M3, when I go to downshift to engine brake in the 335i when I have cruise on, I actually just end up staying at the same speed but in a lower gear. And because the car is in a low gear now, it actually accelerates abrupty back to the my set cruise speed. This has caused me an "oh shit" moment more than once now. Failing the downgrade ability (which probably will be a no go, but I had to ask anyway) I wish the nuances of the cruise system could be configured by the user. And finally, does anyone else share my pain here? Or am I the only one that drives like this (from cruise to rev-matched downshift engine brake with no brake pedal tap)? |

You don't need to have the key in the ignition to start the car. If you bring it close enough to the ignition you can start the car. I dont see the huge convince in it, but opens up ideas for anyone trying to figure out a way to just step into the car and start like some other cars(Example IS350).

I learned today that if I hit the cruise control lever hard it steps in 5mph increments, which essentially solves my problem for "active" cruise control. I rarely have to brake or accelerate. I really like this feature, my last car did not have it.

What's strange, I notice, if am traveling at a high speed, then the engine tends to rev way up like you said. But if a low speed, then it doesn't ever rev; it just give the chime. So it makes me wonder, why isn't it smart enough to not free rev the motor at higher speed? I mean why program the system to free-rev the motor ever? What purpose does it serve? |

Good call, yeah. I discovered that recently as well. What I notice, though, is it actually seems to have three modes (I think ). A quick pull does 1 mph, a hard pull and hold does 5mph. But if i pull hard and then release quick it seems to do like 2 mph or 3 mph increment also. Is that just my car or is it supposed to do that? At firt I though it was just going to the nearest multiple of 5. But I know that I've had it go from 81 to 83 mph for example.

I don't understand people who use cruise control. I'm nervous whenever I put mine on since I basically don't have control of the car's speed. Yeah I can turn it off by tapping the brakes but it just feels weird to not have throttle control myself. Plus nobody ever drives at a constant speed on the highway. Ever.

b) I drive at constant 85mph routinely. As long as people get out of the way, no need to change speed. And if I do, see a) |

That's my issue, it's not throttle control, it's speed control. They are very different in my mind.

The mirror will only tip down in reverse if you have the switch to adjust the mirror on the left mirror. You probably never noticed it until recently because you had the switch to the right mirror...
Thats what he meant when he said you will be posting complaining that it doesn't work in a few weeks.... So remember this feature will only work if the mirror adjustment switch is set for the left mirror. |

Push forward or back without crossing the resistance and you get a 1mph increment change. Push past the resistance and the speed changes to the nearest multiple of 5. So if you are doing 93 mph and you pull past the resistance you drop to 90mph, do it again and you go to 85mph. You can flick the level multiple times very quickly, so if you are doing 90, you can pull back 6 times (just like flashing headlights) and your cruise will be set to 60mph. It's very useful. As to the resume function, I find it much better that it doesn't switch of cruise when you drop the clutch. The only way out of your situation is to to push the lever up or down to switch of cruise. |

Also, you don't have to tap the brakes, just the cc stalk control.

Heck, I even use it while driving in the city (but then, the cities of sweden aren't that big compared to the US ). CC is also the first layer of protection on your drivers license. It stops you from accidentally depressing the accelerator when listening to good music
The people who are afraid of CC are the people who forces me to enable the function every time I start my Volvo in order to be able to use it at all. Happily, BMW doesn't seem to have this "issue" if I'm to read you guys correctly? Can't wait to try it out
