Hey Bav,

With all this hoopla about longer screws maybe you could include them in the next GB kit. You have have a pretty good product but it seems everyone has a problem with hardware a few more pennies would definitely solve this issue.

I'll see what I can do. The thing is that for the life of me, I try one after another to see if you would need longer screws but they all fit perfect.

Still, I'll see what I can do.

P.S. don't be afraid to push in?

Hey BavDom,

Did you post a DIY for this yet? Sorry if I missed it.

Thanks.

That's strange. I got mine a week ago and I'm in Europe

Try using some tacky putty with the screw. Or screw through some double sided foam tape.

for those of you that did purchase the longer screws - what size and length?

It is easy for me to get the screws for $1 than to install the splitters with tape, find out that I need longer screws, and drive the car (without the screws in place) to the Home Depot.

Just put mine on. Lowes or Home Depot. Bag of 6, 10X1 metal screws. 4 small hole washers. With tax $1.41. Wiped the front with grease cutter. Dried off. Wiped again with alcohol . Took me 20 minutes. No pic's yet. Overall snug fit, TiAg, except one bend area. I am picky, but it is a good fit and look for a good price. Car was not lifted at all. Just got my back a bit dusty. Score 9. Had to deduct a point for the $1.41
My hardware is bright silver. Looks fine. Dark colors may go over head and washer with a black sharpie a few times first before install. Then carefully touch up head after.

I just had them Venture shielded (like 3M clear bra, but better). I noticed a couple of things:

1. The outside corner (the exposed portion by the wheel well) developed a crack from the tape installation. The guy said that he does not really stress the parts much, the sharp corners are typically difficult to cure. So be careful with stressing the edges.

2. Although the splitters are somewhat compliant, I test fitted the parts and found a bit of a gap on the sides (by the wheel well). I plan on Betalinking the edges, but could I gently heat the splitter with a heat gun?

Bavdom, could you give me an insight into #2? Thanks.

I was also trying to wait for the "official" DIY guide, but it doesn't look like BavDom will post it anytime soon...he's busy on multiple other GBs.

I wouldn't heat the splitter with a heat gun, a blowdryer should be enough.

Actually, I was going to steal my wife's craft-heat gun. It does not reach above 300 degrees.

Oh man, that sucks. And it wasn't really that hot today here in the bay area. Thanks for the heads up.
