Being somewhat mechanically challenged (and don't want to fool with it), I suppose I could drive over to NJ and have them do the whole thing if I get to that point. Wonder how many shop hours they would charge me. I suppose I should also do the EGR modification at the same time. They would probably want you to sign a waiver or something, right?

Not sure about the waiver. That would be a question for them to address. |

well that's not great to hear. It seems like this car is much easier to work on than my last project vehicle, Ford 6.0. After doing headstuds in my garage on that truck, I find most other task far less intensive in nature. The sound alone will prob be worth it though. Im more interested in having them code out my EGR than anything else.

No pics but i got under it with a guy that was going to gut it out at a muffler shop and he said "damn this is going to be hard to remove." It is very uncomfortable and need the tools to remove it JOE Planet Id think twice if not 3 times if youre going to do it alone just ask TDi about it

I have a fully stocked tool box in my garage and 60 gallon air compressor.
I've done a lot of mechanical work on cars/trucks. I'm not too worried about it, just wanted to see what I was in for. I'm sure there will be a lot of crap to remove to get to the dpf. |

If you guys are used to doing fairly major modifications then it shouldn't be too big of a project.
I'd highly recommend you first see if you can break loose all the probes in the DPF before going any further. Several of mine were extremely difficult to break loose (i.e. I had to use a pipe extension on the wrench to get enough leverage). I had to remove the passenger side motor mount and jack up the engine for clearance to remove and re-install. I have a little car lift that was very helpful for the project. Even with that there was a lot of lowering/raising to get to different things from the top/bottom, and to help wiggle that DPF in/out. I've got medium sized hands, and found it difficult to reach/bend/squirm into some of the places to remove bolts/nuts/etc. If you have large hands, you might want to have a buddy with small hands available to help. |

I read about this from other sites. As long as you remove the passenger side motor mount it should come out. One guy said he did it on ramps in about 3hrs, though that was a euro spec car I believe. My buddy here has a cherry picker so getting the engine lifted to give clearance wont be a problem for me at least.
Biggest thing now is to see if you can even get the pipe seperate |

TDi talk to Ecotune if they can sell the pipe they're saying because o liabilities they wont sell individually which is bs cause their pipe would fall under OFF ROAD use only if not mistaken.

TDI, skinny boys like me are used to using cheater bars on heavily torqued bolts. I'm debating whether or not to take on the mechanic work myself or not to avoid the long ride to NJ. What's even worse is not knowing how long i would have to hang around (2 or 3 days?) while all work is done and working any bugs out, which is to be expected. Back to Axle: was there any sort of quoted cost for the package of programming and pipe? I need to stop bugging you and just go talk with them. As an aside: I'm nervous about getting this going as I still have 13 months of warranty left. |

Cuda no quotes as of yet and dont be scared I believe they back up their shit RENNtech does. Again I need TDi to convince them to sell individually or I'm out Im a RENNtech customer over 10 yrs and two cars no need to jump ship when their product has never failed me. That said I understand somewhat them but it sounds SELFISH by their part when in reality they would of NEVER catered us unless if it wasn't for TDI that sent his dpf to them and it cost him a fortune if anyone deserves it its him and should be FREE!!!

Never heard of Activework s or anyone else selling a downpipe and asking to hv their program installed they statedthey spent and I quote 100's of hours in R&D on this. Yeah they got TDI dpf in November now February they hv everything. Umm makes me wonder but I will give them the benefit of doubt as I usually do.

Hold on now ... I am not affiliated with them, nor do I have any pull or say or control over their business choices and practices... Sorry PR, I can't help you.
