car is still not running at this point, had to remake the downpipe and wastegate dump pipes due to poor fitment with the original piece. hopefully I will get it running by the end of the month. I am still going with the Motiv boostbox at this point and hopefully they are more responsive this time around.

We couldn’t get the 7670 to work with the boostbox and had to go with N54 actuator and stock boost controller. Works really well. Getting about 16 psi atm but will push it out to 20 when we dyno tune it tomorrow Hopefully you will have better luck with Motiv then we did Let me know how you go ![]() |

I've got the whole M3 rep kit from Euro Division on my E92 also. Looking at the Maxton Design page, I can find your SS extensions and front lip but only under the M3 category. Does this mean Euro Divisions (and maybe even MARS) "Made for genuine M3 only" parts actually do fit? Thanks |

Dyno Tune
Its been 12 months since the start of the ST build and almost to the day, we finally have the 98 tune completed ![]() First of all I have to say a big thanks to T1M and Vince, for giving up their time on a Thursday night to dial in the tune. Hanging out until 10:30 at night running logs and loading maps, until the owner kicked us out ![]() ![]() The best run of the night was a little over 180 kw running about 16 psi boost. Unable to run more due to the waste gate creeping open at the top end. That said the car is really responsive and is silky smooth. Boost comes on quick with virtually no lag (much like stockies) pulling hard all the way to red line ![]() Very very happy with the tune and to finally have Gary dialed in... Next will be an E85 tune but that will have to wait for the moment ![]() Anyone looking for a custom tune on either singles or twins, I would head straight to T1M (and his apprentice Vince) ![]() Thanks again fellas ![]() Pics below |

It was a good night, Gary made solid power.
This dyno has a reputation for being brutally low, so ~280wkw on 16 psi at redline is a good result I think. The wastegate can't hold the flapper shut from the mid range up, so we're losing boost there, but we're timing limited on 98 fuel too, especially with 37*C intake temps, high humidity and IAT's into the 50's. More boost meant less timing, so even if it been able to I would have had to pull timing anyway so it's right at the point of diminishing returns in those harsh conditions. Felt great on the street afterwards too ![]() Some E85 with PI enabled and it will go well over 300 on this dyno. Last edited by T1M; 02-22-2018 at 08:43 AM.. |

Man how good does that sound! I was not getting that high pitch big single sound inside the car. That's intoxicating.
Stoked to tune it and dial it in for you Phil, it definitely rips now! You cannot beat local support and helping out mates with cars is what it's all about. The workflow of logging with an MHD tablet and reviewing logs and adjusting the tune on the laptop really sucks for live tuning, Vince helped heaps operating the tablet, and juggling the all important aircon ![]() |

Very nice! Glad to see it getting to its full potential!
Regarding the wastegate problem, could any of these help? https://www.ebay.com/i/263404641350?chn=ps&fl=a http://www.turbokits.com/BMW/135i/Wa...ctuators/1828/

That's some good reliable street power for you on 98, shall be good to see what it makes on more boost and E85 when you get setup for it and a MT swap

Theres 3 ways I can think of to increase the capability of the vacuum actuator: 1. Softer return spring - The spring force resists the vacuum actuator and a softer one would mean you have more clamping force. This would come at the expense of possibly the wastegate not opening reliability as the wastegate arm requires a bit of force to open. 2. Shorten the wastegate arm - We have already done this, and this netted us a few more psi. This means the wastegate is closed earlier, so the return spring has less preload at that point (fighting the vacuum less). This doesn't do too much though, I shortened the rod by 8mm last weekend and didn't yield us much results. 3. Larger vacuum actuator - The force applied by the vacuum actuator would be the area of the diaphragm x vacuum applied. Larger diameter would mean more force but I haven't seen anything suitable for purchase 4. Longer lever arm on wastegate flapper arm - This is what turbo manufacturers do on turbos like the N55, which used a vacuum actuator similar size to the N54, despite a much bigger turbo. The longer lever arm has more mechanical advantage on the wastegate and therefore has more clamping pressure. This would involve grinding off the wastegate arm and welding in a bigger flapper, not ideal This one is a dyno dynamics Quote:
If we had 20psi of boost at redline we would have needed to drop the timing massively and itd make the same power. This is pretty much what 98 fuel will give us. This dyno is known for reading lower than most others, peak numbers don't matter much unless theres multiple cars run on the same day. Ultimately if we want over 300kw should just go to another dyno on a colder day with the same car setup.

Im sure the answers im after are on your impresive 150+ pages on your thread socket 👍 but if you could just refresh my memory on how much power you made on the Nizpro dyno with twins and fuel...
Also have you modded your OEM valve cover yet dude? |

The 7670 set up we are running is estimated to be 318 on the Nizpro dyno http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...Nizpro&page=10 All the results and set ups are on post 212 Last edited by Socket; 02-23-2018 at 04:22 PM.. |
