Also, just because you updated to V43 daten and then coded you car doesn't mean your car version is now v43. You are just coding the car not programming the car. Programming takes hours and you need different hardware.

I have a copy of the spreadsheet I keep with me. I have tried a few of the functions with no luck. It seems some of the values disable my angel eyes as well. Not sure what to do and am hoping someone can offer a definitive solution.

On an 07 I recently coded I initially killed the AEs along with the sidemarkers, and the solution was to switch only SIDEMARKER_US_NFRM to nicht_aktiv and keep everything else at the existing settings; on newer cars I had to switch those other values as noted in the spreadsheet for the markers to turn off properly and the AEs always stayed on, go figure. Anyway, if you have the time and patience I would try switching only one value at a time to see whether it has the desired effect. If it doesn't, switch that value back to its original setting and change one of the others. Just remember that if you're out there for a while you may want to start your car and drive around, otherwise you might end up with a car that was successfully coded but now has a dead battery.

Already experienced the dead battery issue. I now code with a charger on car:-) I'll try changing the SIDEMARKER_US function again, but I could of swore when I did it last time it killed both the AE's and the corners. I don't believe I have an NFRM module in my car being that it is an early 06.

I finally cut my coding teeth yesterday afternoon. I did the corner delete, disabled the passenger seatbelt chime, and disabled the iDrive disclaimer. Next up I am going to do the close windows and sunroof with the fob, digital speed in the cluster, and auto unlock when the key fob is removed. I would have done everything yesterday but it started getting dark. Thanks for all the helpful info in this thread!

Looks the same as the one that I found but mine is $30 cheaper. Wonder what the difference is and if it will work the same
Where did you purchase?
Do you know if this cable works with an early 07 e90?
Thanks

Yes... this is the cable everybody gets. Just get it.

Does anybody else think we should sticky a link to the cable? There are so many threads and posts about what cable to get, and the answer is always to get this one.

Can't really sticky the link as it is an eBay auction - when the auction expires, he relists, but the link will not be the same - so any link is only valid for time of auction...

Important item is to seach eBay for user ID 'automotive-tool' and then look for his auctions for 'BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface, D-CAN, CAN'

Speed on top display

I enabled this option but nothing has happened.
I thought it was to put the speed at the top screen, common occurs when you select Minis at speed on the onboard computer

Has anyone discovered what it does and how to put the speed on the top screen?

Haven't found a way to put speed on the top display. That option looks like it has something to do with headlamp options in the BC menu though. On the Minis the code is in KOMBI: Dig_Speed_Permanent

Waiting on my cable. Read all 165 pages, whew.
I would not attempt this without this forum to help guide me during my flub ups which from what I have read seems to happen to most of us.
Junior really started something with his first post. I too will be donating to support the knowledge base.

The link for the cable on Ebay doesn't work anymore, what is the exact kind of cable that I need?

Quick search on ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/INPA-Ediabas...item43abc8ab0f

If some of you guys can't figure the simple things I definetly would not attempt to code your car. It gets much more complicated ahead.

Except that cable is NOT the proven/recommended cable to use.

We are all using this cable:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-INPA-Edi...item2569c47c64

Vendor name is 'Automotive-Tools'

Cables may look similar, but their quality and reliability is not...

Thank you so much. I was wondering why there was a price difference between some of them lol
