So who actually has access to edit the coding spreadsheet? I've gathered some useful info about coding out fog errors for both 09 and 11 that could be helpful to people doing retrofits involving fogs.

Isee, however, the spreadsheet references WL_POL as the E92 corner LED?

EDIT: I figured out that WL_POL is the E92 corner orange LED. WL_SL_2 refers to the taillight parking light.

Yes, you'll probably need it since your car is pre-DCAN. But chances are it will only work one way or the other and you won't hurt anything by trying the wrong one. Happy coding!

Hi guys,

I have been following the e90post for a long time and let me congratulate you on a great forum.

I have also started to code thanks to your help and contribuitions.

I have successfully coded the following on a E91 build 2007/02

- digital speed
- digital instant consumption l/100km
- wiper clean cycle finish on engine off
- light sensitivity

and confirm that the following does NOT work

- 6MT gear change suggestion. I believe is will only work on 2007/09 models onwards, these models I believe were the first to come out with efficient dynamics

Thanks again, Cheers

Your car is not equipped with seatbelt airbags, but it is equipped with pirotechinck seatbelt tensioners, during collision they explode tensioning the seatbelt making sure that your are held tight in the seat...

Is there a way to code the fog lights to turn on automatically with the low beams?

i'm pulling all my hair out right about now...

i am running windows 7 home 64bit. what version vmware(player?workstation?) do i run and where do i find the correct vmware? how do get the 32bit version? what is this missing api file message?
i've been searching for 3 days straight and still can't seem to grasp this information. but when it's 167 pages and the search function sucks, you can't help but hope there is someone in the forum who understands the frustration to just help a brother out....anyone?

Use either VMWare Workstation (not free) or Windows Virtual PC (free from Microsoft). Then you need to acquire a copy of WinXP or Win7 32-bit (not free), set it up as a VM, and set up your VM software to "attach" the cable to your VM rather than the host. Then follow the DIY inside the VM.

It's too bad you don't have Win7 Pro or Ultimate since those include a free WinXP VM license.

Okay, I received the cable but when I tried to follow the DIY I ran into some issues.

1. I don't see the "use fifo uffers" options when configuring the com port. When I connected the cable it assigned it to com3 - is that okay?

2. I ran the "INPALOAD" and started the ignition and got both black dots on battery on and ignition on but I do not see a selection for E92 chassis. I selected E90 instead.

3. I did the airbag test (but when I click on F5 to read the status code, nothing happen).

1. If you're using the updated driver, you won't see the FIFO Buffers option. Instead, set Latency to 1. And no, you should really have your cable set to COM1 unless you want to mess with config files. If COM1 isn't an option in the Settings are of Device Manager, move whatever is currently occupying COM1 to another number and then put the cable on COM1.

2. Using E90 is fine there.

3. That test probably isn't working because it's expecting to be using COM1 and you're on COM3. Switch to COM1 and retest. Even if the airbag test fails though, you should still be able to use NCS.

Anyone have a copy of the DIY since Rapidshare is having issues? I can't get it to do anything which I suspect is because it is down.
I have the other software ready to begin the DIY but without Junior's DIY it makes it tough. Cable has been in for a while but with the holidays I wanted to wait until I had time.
Thanks

Nevermind got it working. Must have been a glitch on their system...

I believe the basic idea is to edit your VO (Vehicle Order), removing the old region code and replacing it with the new. Then recode the whole car. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

got my win7 ulti version, running winxp mode, attached usb and ran the airbag test and got a sys-0012 identification error..any idea what needs fixing? also, i bought the car used...is there a way to check if the car has been previously coded? and if so, can we put the car back to default settings?

Make sure that after you attached it to the VM, you set it to COM1 inside the VM and set Latency to 1. If you've done all that, don't worry about the airbag test; some people always have problems with that. Just make sure you've got both black dots up top and if so proceed to NCS.

As for reverting to stock, there are conflicting reports about how best to do that (blank MAN file seems easiest but isn't always recommended, using Expertmode seems to be the right way), but honestly I wouldn't worry too much about it. You can't do serious damage with coding (unlike bad engine tunes), so if there's some behavior that's annoying you, see if it can be coded differently -- otherwise, just enjoy the car.

Before you make any coding changes, read the various modules (CAS, DWAI, DWAS, KOMBI, NFRM, etc.) and make a copy of the resulting FSW_PSW TRC files. That way, if you ever need to revert back to factory coding, you can just overwrite the files with your backups.
