Bigger is not necessarily better. Yea you will get more traction but there is more weight to be pushed also so acceleration and mpg will suffer ever so slightly. And yes, PSS do run a little bit bigger than normal because like you said, they are more square. I have PSS's on my 18" 313's and a 15 mm spacer and they rub over dips. I want to say they are 255? They are in storage right now so I do not have access to them. But I think a 285 will create a lot more rubbing, especially if you change to PSS's. It will also make your tires a little taller too, not just wider. The middle number in the tire size is a percentage of the first number. so a 275/30 = 275 x 30% = 82.5 mm side wall. 285 x 30 = 85.5 mm side wall. 3mm is not huge, but something to keep in mind.

Agree with this line of reasoning. That's why I think getting stickier tires in the same size is a better option.

Is the IS relevant?

Everywhere I go no one knows what a 335IS is; and when I search 335is on google and YouTube about 98% of the time I get 335i results...just pisses me off

I suppose what made me angry is having my car worked on where they had to remove the emblems on one fender and them returning the car with no emblems on that one fender and they had a smile on their face like everything was fine and dandy....I guess I shouldn't suspect everyone to know what a 335IS is

The "is" was BMW's extraordinary parting shot to the N54. BMWs are all over the place in S. Cal but not ISes. The car is a masterpiece and will only become more and more sought after! Everytime I take mine into the dealer for servicing someone asks me if I will sell it - including the dealer. My answer is always "nope."

when 335is.com was up and running (company I sold the software to is having issues) we had many "IS" links - were compiling all we could find. If I can ever get site back up there were some good ones there; including specific IS parts as, like you, I the 335i parts will fit the 335is scenario is not entirely true and it would be nice to know what does and what does not. We had some of that on the site too. Maybe the company will get its act together so I can pull the data off relaunch it somewhere else.

I searched for 335is.com when I first bought my IS; no wonder it didn't come up...Would be really cool to see it come back!

Looks nice! I hate how the front sits slightly higher than the rear...

To the tire guru's...what do you guys think about running a 255/35/19 in the rear instead of the stock 255/30/19

You should be able to get away with with it but there is a good chance it will rub. You are making the tire half an inch taller. The more common option is doing a 265/30 tire instead as its a little wider and a little taller. The height falls somewhere in between the 255/35 and 255/30, closer to the latter.

Was just asking cause my friend had a set of continental contactsport 3's laying around from his competition pack m3 that were practically new and he gave them to me for $100 and they don't rub lowered on h&r sport springs. Was just wondering your guys opinions on them since they are a easier tire size to find and more options between the brands
