This is the best description of how it feels...It feels like the the car bogs down in that 3-4k rpm range and then boom the power comes hard and strong really fast..

So far I do like the COBB, the stage 2+FMIC aggressive that I'm driving right now feels quite a bit more powerful. Boost is higher too, 18psi compared to 16psi, so that's not a big surprise. Sound is slightly different, with COBB it seems more throaty, raspier which is probably due to the different vanos programming. GIAC was smoother though, I also seem to have that so-called "vtec effect" where the torque seems to be launched in stages and not in a smooth line. This can however also be partly due to my slipping clutch, and COBB seems to be aware of the problem and working on it. If I were to keep my stock turbos, I would not have changed from GIAC to COBB as I was very satisfied with the GIAC stage 2 flash and it worked very well. But as I'll have the RB turbos installed next week, there was no choice as the GIAC flash does not work with them. Alpina_B3_Lux

![]() Rader, you think I should just wait for them to fix this problem people are having with the 3,to 4rpm pause ? I read somewhere else, that someone hasn't felt that deley.I'm sure not getting a jb4 or proceed anymore after doing lots of research this week.I think you pay for what you get and would rather have a Cobb for the money with a true flash.Good info on this thread too. |

I talked to an authorized ACCESStuner yesterday about doing a custom meth map and according to them the ATP software should be available within the month

It's available in beta release, i don't think they're supposed to tune customer cars yet. I think it's to make sure they're familiar with the software and there's no bugs.

If I could gain an additional 20whp/20wtq over S2+ Aggr with ATP, I would be ecstatic. Wouldn't even bother with meth. I hope my expectations are realistic...

Do you mean the engine sounds "noisier" ? Noisy engine is not good. But I will probably get a Cobb too if the next released maps are problem-free as far as smoothness and power. |

I sure hope they fix this surging issue. I had the same thing with the GIAC stg 2 flash and thats why I went away from it (not sure if they are related). I'm thinking of switching to Cobb but this surging issue is the only thing thats holding me back. I don't want to go through that again. It was exactly how everyone describes, between 3k and 4k ish rpm...
My car is smooth as can be with the JB4

Is it possible that cobb could figure out how to switch maps on the fly. iv had the ap for a couple months and on the fly map switching would put the ap above and beyond anything else(imho).

I know I have a early 2007 with original turbo's so one would guess my WG's are sloppy or loose. I had surging issues and wg rattle with GIAC, I have no WG rattle or surging issues with JB4, no hardware changes what-so-ever.

Atleast that's my understanding, i could be way off. You can order the AP and try it out and if you don't like it you can return it for a 100% refund. Why not give it a try ![]() |

Update
I was intermittenly going into limp mode during mild acceleration, my engine was stumbling at idle, and Stg1 aggressive was running really rough on my 07 335i...I took my car in to the Dlr and found out that my car qualified for both the Hpfp and injector recalls (Received all new injectors). Now I'm running Stg1 aggressive and my car is running as smooth as silk..
